Marie Park retied home on aCrictiy
from Goderfeh.hospital where she had been
a patient with the flu and complications,,
Congratulations to ,Steve and Debbie
(Hodges) Waller of Stirling, Ont. on the
birth of a daughter on January 2 at St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. Another grand-
daughter for Lloyd and Doris Hodges and a
lovely birthday present for Aunt Wanda
Hodges.
Mrs. Gertrude Park visited on Sunday
with her sister-in-law Nell Handy of ~d
Goderich.
Mrs. Florence Berry is a patient in,
'Goderich hospital. Her many friends wish
her a speedy recovery.

Sixty-five members of the Dungannon and
area Senior Citizens were served a turkey
dinner by the Willing Workers on Wednes.

Following dinner 4 skit, ``Phone, Call' to'
Jesus," was presented by the Willing
Workers - comprised of Lynda McNee, Pen-
ny Hodges, Ruth McKenzie, Linda Curran
and Joanne Sproul.
Dorothy Wardell, a dinner guest from
Ripleypentertained with several violin selec-
tions. Readings were given by Mary
Stewart, Isabel Young, Jack Smithand
Margaret Errington.
Margaret Pritchard led in a carol songfest
accompanied by Roberta Linskill on the ac-
cordian.
A raffle ticket on a Mr. and Mrs. Santa
Claus was drawn by Pearl Congram and
won by Da Pollock.
A wonderful time of food, friends and
fellowship was enjoyed by all.. This -conclud-
ed the activities of the seniors for 1984 until
the weekly Wednesday. night euchres
resumed on January 2.
Jack Smith proved his ability as an auc-
tioneer by auctioning off the surplus pies
and rolls.
Huron -Bruce MP Murray Cardiff presents a cheque for $8,907 to Mrs. Evelyn Errington,
past president and founder of the Dungannon Senior Citizens' organization. The cheque is
the first installment on a New Horizons grant of $15,907, for renovations and' improvements
to the former Dungannon Mennonite Church, which the Dungannon Seniors have purchased

Gertrude Park visited on Christmas day
with Mr. and Mrs. Torn Lawlor and Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Lawlor, Andrea and Alexandria at
Auburn. On Boxing Day she spent the day in
Goderich at the home of Ted and Vicki
Henry when the Bill Park family all
gathered to celebrate Christmas.
Tim and Wanda Hodges spent Boxing Day
at the home, of Bruce and Marsha Sellib at
Nile when the Hodges families celebrated
Christmas together. On Christmas day they
visited with Bill and Marie Park, Brad .and
Todd. Other company at the' Park home
were Elmer and Gail Cook and Kevin.
Jack and Marion Smith'spent Christmas
day in Stratford with Mr.' and Mrs. Paul
Byers and Lisa. Their family has been home
throughout the holidays.
Irvine -and Colleen Eedy spent Christmas
day in Stratford with their daughter,, Mar-
tha Bossence. On Boxing Day, company
with the Eedys were Bob and Kate Eedy,
Megan, Jennifer and Tim of Mississauga;
grandsons Matthew aid Andrew Ott of Kit-
chener are visiting for a few days through
the holidays. .
'Sharon and Trish Arsenault enjoyed
Christmas day with Bev McInnis and fami.

The universality of old age pensions was
supported by Huron -Bruce Progressive
Conservative MP Murray' Cardiff, during
a visit to Dungannon Friday.
"We want to assureyou the ada Pen-
sion Plan is secure and when.. ou reach.65
it will be there for: you," Cardiff told
members, of .the Dungannon Senior
Citizens organization.
"That is a sacred trust," he said, '
mimicking the words of Tory Prime
Minister Brian Mulroney.
Cardiff called recent parliamentary
debate on the universality of social welfare
programs, "a bloody circus" and Said the
debates so .far "didn''t_ make__a lot It_
'sense".
"The opposition says one thing, we say
• another, and the press reports something
else," said Cardiff.

The World Affairs meeting of the Dungan-
non Women's Institute was held January 3
in the Dungannon United Church basement.

her visit to Sierra Leone, Africa, where her
sister was teaching at the time with the
CUSO programme. Sierre Leone has a
strong English influence., with the people

are walled with high fences to prevent
thievery. There is no rain from November to
May. Rainy season is May to November.
Bamboo scaffolding is lashed together to do
construction work as high as 10 stories.
A box -like iron with hot charcoal inside is
used for ironing clothes: Being near the
equator, there are no sunsets like ours, but a
10 minute phase from daylight to total
darkness.

Ila thanked Olive Chisholm for hosting the
meeting and the meeting closed with the
singing of 0 Canada with Roberta Linskill at
the piano.
