J. Bissett the Sanitary Inspector of the town, which was tried in Goderich in June, It will be remembered that a year ago last Summer the Canning Company put a large pile of decayed pea straw in a field near the Station and refused to remove it or plow it under when re-' quested by the Board of Health to do so. So obnoxious was it to the people of the neighborhood that the Sanitary Inspector was instructed to have it r taken away. The (fanning Company then issued, a Writ claiming $200dam- ages and an Injunction restraining Hammers from .50c to $1 Good Value 45c and 50c Use CHT-NAMEL and Camp bell's Varnish Stain for renew ing all interior woodwork. Masoni - Collision at Parkhill A head on collision at Parkhill be- tween a through freight and a. mixed train at 7 o'clock last Thursday night, resulted in the death of H, R. Scott a fireman on the Grand Trunt. The young man was running out of Strat- ford, but it is supposed that his rela- tives live at Goderich. The accident occured almost directly in front of the station. The mixed t •rain was running as a double header and was backing up to allow the coming freight to take the siding, It is said that the freight was due at 7,15 o'clock and. that it vas a few minutes. ahead of time, However the mixed was four of the switeh and the freight going at ten or twelve miles an hour struck the eastbound train, piling up the two en- gines and sending the tender of one down an enbankment, Scott was in an engine which was behind the one struck. He was killed instantly, but the others of the crew escaped. The ti largenumber mixed train carried a of travellers and Ailsa Ciaig students. Among the latter was Harold Hodson who was badly skaken• up and a few others received slight injuries, Serious Shooting Accident -Mr. Jas.
