Thieves steal
Christmas light
It's difficult to find something that won't
interest thieves these days.
This week a senior reader informed the
Signal -Star that Christmas lights were
taken from outside a senior citizen's
apartnirt on Picton Street West for the
second Itraight year. Last year thieves
simply removed the entire string of lights
from the tree:
This year, however, they appeared to
have more ,time and removed each bulb
from the string on a tree planted by the
town. The lights were donated.
"We feel very strongly about it," the
caller said. "It was just a terrible thing.
We apreciated having the tree."
It seems that more people are
decorating the outside of their homes this
year, a practice that adds to the spirit of
the season. But if some have the audacity
and time to individually remove light
bulbs from private displays, fewer and
fewer people will bother with decorative
Christmas lighting.
