GDCI Teachers wm.
After four rounds of curling, only two
teams remain undefeated in the Industrial
league, but four teams are tied for second
with3-1 records.
Cam Bogie's Foresters teams and George
Sutton's GDCI Teacher's team have won all
four games to date.
The GDCI wins have all been close en-
counters, with one extra -end game, while
the Foresters have siamlaned all their op-
ponents with lop -sided scores.
The four second place teams are the
AM&G Hospital team, skipped by Jim
Rourke, Jim Bell's Legion team, Jack
MacKinnon's Health Unit and the GDCI
Viking team with Fraser Huyck at the helm.
Last Thursday's games included several
close ones, with Jack Kellough's 1863 team
posting a 6-5 win over the battling V&G
Bankers, and the Health Unit taking an
extra -end game from the Grey-Sweatered
GDCI number two team.
The Fl"m'ntary Tnorh.rn dragged out a
9-7 win that went right down to the wire av °;t' -
the Sifto-.Salt maniacs, while the G ,
Vikings took a 4-2 'decision from the
Evaporators.
The Viking team had some first year
curlers filling in, 'and grade nine students
Tanya Jeffrey and Katharine Murphy
showed great poise in their first real com-
petition.
The GDCI Teacher's number one team
played a close game with a very determined
Lady Golfer's team, but were able to
salvage a 5-3 win when Eleanor Erskine's
last rock slipped through the house.
Other games had the Legion defeating the
Silver Brooms 9-4, the Hospital team over.
the Lady Foresters 10-3 and the Foresters
gave a 13-2 pounding to the Super -Shell
team.
Some special arrangements for the last
draw of Christmas are underway. Next
week's article will give more details.
Bedford's streak stopped
After a two week layoff, Garb and Gear
came up with a big win over Sunset with a
close 5-4 score on December 4. Terry
Schoemaker scored with only one minute
remaining to give. Garb and Gear the vic-
tory.
Bedford and O'Briens played to a 5-5 tie -
the following Monday. Dan Duncan led all
scorers with achat-trick. The second game
that evening had Ultramar against Hodges,
with Hodges short of man power, and •
eventually went down to a 14-6 defeat. Derk
Wolterbeek had six assists in Ultramar's
victory.
On Wednesday, December 7, Ultramar
was at it again playing Garb and Gear to a 5-
5 tie. Rick McLean had a hat -trick and an
assist to lead all the offensive players.
Dale Duncan scored four goals in Sunset's
victory over Clere-Vu last Thursday. Kevin
Meriam added a hat -trick , with the game
ending 11-7 in favour of Sunset.
Murphy's Greer( Machine stopped Bed=
ford's unbeaten streak at 13 games when
they outhustled the Flyers by a 6-3 score on
Sunday in Goderich. Tag Sowerby, Dave
Grof and Bruce Melick each scored two
goals apiece to spark the Green Machine to
victory.
Sunset and O'Briens played to an 8.8 draw.

scoring the hat -trick and adding two assists.
The game in Clinton saw Garb and Gear
play to a five all tie with Clere-Vu.

Pee Wees defeat Strathroy
Three straight unanswered third period
goals proved too much for the visiting
Strathroy Pee Wees lost Saturday as the
local Lions defeated the opposition 6-3.
Trailing 1-0 after the first period, the
Lions tallied three times in the second
period on goals by George Sideris from Lon-
nie Rumig and Jeff Boyce; Andre Cauchi
unassisted; Gregg DeWinter from Greg
Alcock and Sideris to hold down a 3-2 lead
after two periods.
Strathroy quickly tied the game early in
the third but the three unanswered goals by
Jeff Hodge unassisted, Jeff Boyce a :Aloft -
handed unassisted marker; Greg Alcock
with Sideris once again assisting gave
Goderich their fifth victory in the last six
contests.
Once again the this contest the torwarus
displayed strong backchecking efforts
which enabled the defence also to make
their checks and move the puck back to the
forwards. When the opposition did get
through on bad angles to shoot from outside
the circle, goaltender Shawn Currie made
outstanding saves.
The Lions are now making a lot of noise m
their league with these wins and making
themselves into a contender. This week they
will play three out of town games. Tuesday
in Ilderton, Saturday in St. Marys and Sun-
day in Lucan in an effort to move up further
in the standings.
O'Brien scores four for Atoms
The Goderich Atoms maintained their
undefeated record against Exeter as they
defeated the visiting team 10-1 during their
third meeting this season.
Sam Hosack wasted no time as he scored
two goals within five minutes. Todd Papple
assisted on Hosack's first goal and Ryan
Fagan assisted on the other.
Sean O'Brien netted the third goal for
Goderich when he took a pass from Paul
Hamilton. Aaron Duckworth was also given
an assist. Before the first period was over,
`Fagan beat the Exeter goaltender to end the
period with a 4-0 lead.
Exeter caught the Goderich Atoms off
guard as they scored eight seconds into the
period, but Goderich's O'Brien scored two
more to get his team back on track.
Assisting on his goals were Paul Hamilton
and Fagan.
The third period saw four Goderich goals.
Todd Papple, Chad Papple, O'Brien and
Hamilton were the marksmen for Goderich
with assists going to Hosack; Fajen and
O'Brien:
The Atoms' record now stands at three
wins, seven losses and three ties.
