Junior V hockey Taction last weekend by defeating league - leading Port Elgin 3-1 Friday at home and Moubling uP on alkeiton 6-3 Sunday in Walkerton. The Mustangs will be aiming to continue their move up in the Central Junior 'C' League standings in a pair of home games this weekend. Friday at 8:30 p.m. the Mustangs heat the third place Kincardine tfinucks and Sunday at 8 p.m. the Stangs will entertain the Hanover Barons. In Friday's victory over Port Elgin, the Mustangs got goals from Shawn Rahbek, Brent Daw and Tommy Smith. Daw and Armstrong had two assists and Daryl Madge and Smith had one each. The Stangs got strong goaltending from Pat Cronyn. There was no score after the first period and the teams were tied at 1-1 after two periods. A strong third period effort gave Clinton the victory as they outscored the Bears 2-0. Sunday's victory lifted the Mustangs out of the cellar. They now have ten points. Walkerton, with nine, are now in last place in the six team league. Tommy Smith was the big gun for the Mustangs against Walkerton, scoring four goals. Jeff LeBeau and Randy Marriage got the other Clinton goals.'The Mustangs led 3-0 after the fust period only to see the Blackhawks score three unanswered goals in the second. However, another good third period effort by coach Bob Zimmer's team netted them their three goal margin of victory. Picking up points in the assist column were Brent Daw, Wayne Smith, Brad Armstrong, Daryl Madge, Kevin Lee and Grant Garrow. Terry Bean, in the Mustangs goal, stopped '23 of 26 shots sent nis way. Kevin Willis was the high man for C.C.C.B. with a 675. WEDNESDAY NIGHT MIXED The Falcons led by Sonny Moore with a 699 triple and Mari Moore with a 268 single, took four points in a split with the Knock Outs. This was enough to help them take over the lead with 55 points. Close behind with high scores were Earl Lawrence with a 286 single and Bruce Carrick witha 728 triple for the Knockouts. The Pits were defeated 5- 2 by the Crazy Six but remain a close second with 54 points. Brad Chase rolled a 609 triple to lead the Six. Murray Connolly had a 267 single and Cathy Connolly had a 606 triple to lead the Pits. Park Theatre Mustangs re- main in third with 52 points as they were defeated 7-0 by a hot Kitchigami Road Run- ner team. Jack Wunnick had a 266 single followed by Bob Kelly with a 260 single led the Road Runners. Barb Lonsbary led the Mustangs with a 511. The Fizz Mitts took five points from the Lowly Rollers as Bren- da Teichert came through with a 644 triple to' lead the team. Diane Mitchelmore had a 553 to lead the Lowly Rollers. THURSDAY NIGHT MIXED The Hot Shots rolled to their fourth straight seven point night as they defeated the Losers. Jack Gilbert was the highest for the Hot Shots with a 559. This gives them a 13 point lead over their nearest rivals, the Dizasters. The Dizasters were busy handing out a 5-2 defeat to Libby's Beans behind a 701 triple by Joan Eisenbach. Don Siemon with a 254 single and Lee Ryan with a 691 tri- ple had the hot hands for Libby's Beans. The Woodpeckers also had a good night as they took all seven points from Glimmers Bum- mers. Kim McNaughton led the Woodpeckers to the win with a 622 triple and Al Fisher with a 652 led Gurnmers Bum- mers. THURSDAY NIGHT MENS North End Marina remain solidly in the lead in this league as they had another five point win over the Spoilers. Brian Brindley had a fine night for the Marine with a 294 single and 685 triple. Every man on the team had a 600 plus night. Ted Howe led the Spoilers with a 617. Dick McLean with a 798 triple led the Six Pack to a seven point drub- bing of Laird's Wagon. Lakeport Advertis- ing also had a seven point night as they defeated the Bombers. Simon Langlois powered Lakeport with a 724 triple. Otto Herrmann led the Bombers with a 651. THURSDAY NIGHT LADIES This League is another close one as nine points separate the top four teams., The Flyers lead it as they took another five points from the Pin Heads. Marj Moore with a 252 single -and 677 triple led the Flyers. Kathleen Bowen led the Pin Heads with a 469. The Wallbangers were defeated 4-3 by the Nighthawks but remain a close second. Mary Lamb led the Nighthawks with a 610 triple and Leone Thom was high for the Wallbangers witha 633. The Yo Yos gained on the leaders with a seven point win over the Alley Cats. Marj Smith was the highest for the Yo Yos with a 579 and Pat Brown led the Alley Cats with a 508. BOWLMAS°TER HI-ww DOUBLES TOURNAMENT The annual Hi -Low doubles qualifications round is in full swing and We should see the 9na1 contestants for the zone finals soon. This is another beat your average tourna- ment where the winners can win a trip to sunny Floriday. December 15 will decide the winners in each league and they will be roll- ing off in the zone finals at Little Bowl on January 15. A lot of leagues still have a number of teams still in the running so next week will be an exciting one for all concern- ed.
