Perth Furniture -2 The Square /Nest Side Auto Body - 239 Huron Rd. Goderich Novices lose two In exhibition action Friday, the Goderich Novices travelled to Wingham only to be beaten 4-3. On Saturday they played host to Exeter but were defeated 5-2. Wingham opened the scoring early in the first period to hold a 1-0 lead throughout the second period. Goderich managed to tie the score in the first 30 seconds of the third period when Andrew Scott netted an unassisted goal. Wingham struck back with three goals in one minute, but Goderich kept digging for the puck, resulting in two goals by Jason Hayter. The assists went to Scott Creamer, Bryan Lamb, Mike McBride and David Boyce. Time ran out for Goderich as they lost 4-3. In regular Shamrock League action, Goderich was defeated by Exeter at the Goderich Arena, 5-2. Exeter scored the only goal in the first period and then netted two in the second, but Goderich found one opening behind the visiting team's goalie before the period was over. Andrew Scott scored after receiving a pass from Scott Creamer, making the score 3-1. Exeter went straight to work in the third period, adding another two goals to their total before Scott scored his second of the night. Creamer and Jason Hayter were credited with the assists. Saturday was the third meeting between the two teams, with Exeter coming out on top in all of the games. The Goderich, Novices' next game will be this Saturday against Strathroy at the Goderich Arena. Seconds tie two, win one On Wednesday, November 30 the Optimist Bantam Seconds hosted Blyth. This game proved to be an eye opener for the locals as Blyth's Dan McDougal opened the scoring at 1:32. Goderich had trouble getting onto the scoreboard but Mark Cauchi scored with assists from Mike Beange and Ryan Kelly at 1:28 of the second period. Other points tallied for Goderich were Mark Cauchi with two goals, Darren Stanbury had two and one assist, Gary Erb scored once, Mike Beange had four assists, Ryan Kelly one assist, Steve Armstrong one assist, Mike Creamer one assist, Bob Allen one assist and Jim Kel- ly one assist. The game ended in a 5-5 tie. On December 3 the Bantam Seconds had another tough game against the Wingham Seconds as they squeezed by with a 5-4 win. At the end of the second period it was Goderich who came from behind and tied the game at three goals. Points for Goderich went to Ryan Kelly unassisted; Mark Cauchi unassisted; Mike Beange assisted by Mark Cauchi; Mike Creamer assisted by Gary Erb; Mark Cauchi assisted by Darren Stanbury and Mike Beange. On December 5 the Bantam Seconds travelled to Hensall to play a rescheduled league game. Goderich got on the scoreboard early when Mike Creamer scored assisted by Darren Stanbury. Hen- sall came back strong and scored two straight to take the lead. Goderich then scored two more goals. by .Mike Beange and Mark.. Cauchi, .both unassisted. Hensall then tied the score before the end of the first period. Hensall jumped into a two goal lead in the second period before Goderich came back strong, scoring three straight goals. Darren Stan - bury scored an unassisted goal while Mike Beange netted one, assisted by Steve Johnston, and Steve Johnston assisted by Darren Stanbury. Hensall managed to score with five minutes left in the game to tie it at six all. Goderich played shorthanded most of the game getting 26 minutes in penalties but managed to score three shorthanded goals. The Bantams' record now stands at five wins, no losses and two ties for the season. Their next home game will be Wednesday, December 21 at home when they host Elma Logan at 8:15 p.m. What Have You Got TO LOSE...?
