Goderich). See slides of Yugoslavia The regular monthly variety concert was held in MacKay Centre on Wednesday, November 23 with Janet and Claude Kalbfleisch in charge. After the singing of 0 Canada, Janet call- ed on Lorna Vincent to explain a petition that is being circulated. This petition would let senior citizens pay their income tax once a year and not four times as they do at the present time. It would be less costly if they could pay once a year. The musical group called, "The Rhythm Band", were introduced by Audrey Kerr. They were Gord Harrison, Betty Helesic, Lorene Madge, Tony Hyde and Bill and Ebb Ross. They played and sang many old-time favourites including, Daisy Daisy. When You Wore A Tulip, I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover, Red Sails in the Sunset, Oh Dear What Can the Matter Be, Cruising Down the River and It's a Long Way to Tip- perary. Three of Mary Lynne Telford's dancers at then entertained. Vicki Bruinsma danced the Highland Fling. Kim Linklater and Alison Culp danced a Scottish Lilt' and another dance to the music 'Wilt Thou go to Berricks Johnny' and Vicki did the Sword Dance. Mr. and Mrs. Kalbfleisch took a trip to Yugoslavia last fall and they shared their slides with the audience. Claude ran the pro- jector and Janet's commentary about the country was very informative. The first slide was a map of the country and Janet traced the route they had taken from Belgrade to Sarajevo to Split on the Asiatic Sea and back to Belgrade. The country is very old, founded by the ROmans in 300 A.D. Many wars have been fought there and it has been ruled by several countries. Many of the cities are surrounded by walls. There are 1900 rivers, including the Danube which is very blue. The slides showed how beautiful the country is and there were many interesting pictures of shrines, old variety night buildings and street scenes. Russel Alton thanked the Kalbfleischs for presenting their slides and planning a very interesting variety program. He also thank- ed the Mary Lynne Telford dancers and the members of the Rhythm Band. 'l'o conclude the program, Audrey Kerr played the piano and the Ross brothers played mouth organs. Then the Rhythm Band played and sang How Great Thou Art and Bless This House. Coming events to keep in mind are the movie, "My Favourite Year" on December 2; bingo on December 9th and a card party on December 14. This month's variety concert will be on Friday, December 16 at 8 p.m. Taxi service is available. Included in this concert is the 30 -voice choir of MacKay Centre. The New Year's Eve party is being ar- ranged by Len and Peg Lumsden, Irene Todd and Everett and Beatrice Sparling.
