Last Sunday the local team travelled to Exeter where they defeated the host team 9-6. ( photo by Anne Nare jko ) G erich Midgets are now in third place The Goderich Legion Midgets split a pair of Shamrock League games last weekend, losing in Parkhill last Friday 6-5 and defeating Ilderton here Saturday 8-3. Parkhill scored two powerplay goals in the final four minutes of the game to over- come a 5-4 Goderich lead to win 6-5. Ron Chapman, Brent Williamson, Darren Creamer, Chris Sideris and Darren Doak scored the Goderich goals. Todd Jeffrey had three assists while Pete Willems, Kevin Telford, Brent Williamson and Scott Stokes had single assists. Goderich came back the next night and defeated Ilderton 8-3. Todd Jeffrey led the goal -scoring with two goals. Ron Chapman, Darren Creamer, Chris Sideris, Brent Williamson, Dave Telford and Pete Willems all added single goals. Pete Willems had three assists and Darren Creamer and Brent Williamson had two assists each. Kevin Talbot and Kevin Telford each had a single assist. The Legion Midgets record now stands at five wins, four losses and one tie and are in third place in the Shamrock League stan- dings. Goderich's next game is tonight (Wednesday) in St. Mary's at 8:30. Goderich then plays two important home games on Saturday at 8:30 and next Wednesday at 8, both against playoff rivals, Strathroy. Stadelmann wins two to maintain lead Louis Stadelmann- won two games last Wednesday night to maintain his lead in level one for the Goderich Chess Club. Bob Dick won a close game over Doug Brindley to edge into second place. Mike Cox who is playing a stronger game this year, beat Barry Page. John Crawford and Brian Davidson both played well to win game. Eric Hallam managed to outmaneuver Tom Kelly id a very long, close game. Don Bogie battled 500 for the evening with a win and a loss. As the season goes on, a number of the honorary members will move up into the regular standings which will likely result in four levels for playoff action m March.
