Rob Plunkett, a criminology student at Conestoga College, is helping Colleen Osborn
through the Children's Safety Village set up in Suneoast Mall last Saturday. The purpose of
the village was to teach the children what the signs they see on the street every day mean.

Sympathy is extended to Mel Jones on the
loss on Saturday, November 25 of his uncle,
William Marsh. Mr. Marsh who was a
resident of Huronview was in his 99th year.
Funeral service was held from the McCallum
Funeral Home with interment in Colborne
Cemetery.
The second euchre tournament was held
on Saturday afternoon at the Agriculture
Hall and proved to be a success.
First prize winners of $50 were Leroy
Draper and son, Wayne of Goderich; second
place, Ted Johnston, Goderich and his
partner, Arlene Curran, Dungannon; third
place, Ed Johnston and Mary Bisset, both
from Goderich.
Another tournament is planned for
January 28.
The death occurred in London ori Satur-
day, December 3 of Dory Rutledgdi in his
56th year. Besides his wife, Betty land 10
children, he is survived by two sister¢, June,
Mrs. Harry Montgomery of Godericl%, Betty,
Mrs. Al Crandlemire of B.C. and his father,
Ray Rutledge of Clinton. Ray Rutledge was a
barber here in Dungannon at one time and
he and his family will be remembered by
many.
Dory is also cnrvived by seven. grand-

children and was predeceased by two sons.
Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery,,
London on Tuesday.
Dungannon United Church
Five babies were baptized at Nile Church
on Sunday, including two sets of twins. They
were Scott Raymond and Jeremy Vincent
Austin; Amanada Victoria and Sara Lindsay
Drennan; and Curtis Clifford McNeil.
There will be no church service at
Dungannon or Nile on Christmas Day. There
will be a Candlelight Service on Christmas
Eve in the Nile Church for both congrega-
tions.
On January 1, New Years Day there will
be on service only for both churches at 11:00
a.m. in Dungannon Church.
Brookside school students
make biscuits and butter

On Wednesday, November 23, there was a
Professional Development Day during which
parents could have interviews with the
teachers of their children.
Mr. Bob Allen, ;Director of Education for
Huron County, shared a pot luck lunch with
teachers at the school and spoke on the
school situation as he sees it.
On Thursday, Mrs. Cameron's grade 2
class; Mrs. Blanchette's grade 2 class, and
Mrs. Carroll's class went to Larnbton
Heritage Museum south of Grand Bend.
Mrs. Cameron's class madebiscuits and
butter on Thursday and Friday. They are
also making mini booklets about the story,
"Charlotte's Web".
On Friday, there was an assembly to
award the posters to students who had sold
12 brushettes or more. Medallions were
handed out to Jean McWhinney and Julie
Pentland for winning the Cross Country at
Point Farm earlier this call.
Mrs. Graham's class is„ working with
pottery clay and doing kitchen decorations
and rehearsing for the Christmas concert.
The people in Tebbutt's class are making
apple faces and also working on the
Christmas Concert.
Mr. Errington's boysgand girls are doing a
"Take 45", on racoons.
Mr. Liddle's class received letters from
their penpals in Calgary.
Mr. Cameron's class is doing decorations
for the concert.
On Thursday and Friday, December 1 and
2 Constable Marshall of the O.P.P. was at
the school talking about bus safety to all the
classes.
The Junior Volleyball Tournament was on
November 30. The boys played at Victoria
Public School and the girls played at Robert-
son. The boys won one game out of a set.
The captain for the boys was Michael Millian
and the coach was Mr. Liddle. Holmesville
won the Boys Tournament.
Dungannon WI holds dinner
The December meeting of the Dungannon
Women's Institute was held December 1 at
12.30 p.m. in the form of a pot luck dinner;
at the Nile United Church.
President Winnifred Girvin welcomed 14
members and eleven visitors and asked Rev.
Roberts to ask the blessing.
After the sumptious dinner, roll call, What
is happening to the Family? was answered.
Bessie McNee gave the treasurer's and
secretary's reports.
Instead of an exchange of gifts among
members, each member gave $3.00. Half
will be used for postage for knitted squares
sent to Zambia and half to support the Huron
County Family Crisis Centre.
In keeping with the meeting on Family
Affairs this month, Norma Martin of Dun-
gannon presented a film called, Love,
Honour and Bruised, showing how one
family was thankful to reach a shelter for
battered women and their children. Huron
County Family Crisis Centre opened in May
this year and is located between Bayfield
and Goderich. Contacts can be made
through a doctor or local police.
A Christmas carol sing -a -long followed

P-ggy Purdon were given a round of
appiauSe for their help with this special
meeting.
Road signs
knocked down
around town
Charges are pending against one male
adult following an incident Saturday night
during which seven road signs were
knocked down throughout town.
The local police are also continuing an
investigation of a break-in at a house
Sunday night during which a small amount
of money was stolen.
