The new members successfully completed training programs. y Dave Sykes) THE WINGHAM SALES ARENA World War 11 veteran dies JOHN ROBERT HENDERSON John Robert Henderson of 194.A Walnut Street, Goderich, died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Friday, November 18 at the age of 71. He was born in Elora on December 29, 1911 to Adam and Margaret (Nimmo) Henderson. He worked as a farmer and a mechanic. He was -Ca member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109 and of the First Presbyterian Church in Chatham. During World War II, he served in Reg. A29582 of the R.C.E.M.E. as a craftsman. He married Ruth Watson in London on August 30,1952. She survives him. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Margaret) Young and Mrs. Rick (Joyce) Kingsley, both of Goderich; one son, Robert, at home; and one grandchild, Nicole Kingsley. A funeral service was held at Stiles Funeral Home in Goderich on Monday, November 21 at 2 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Royal of Knox Presbyterian Church of- ficiated. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109 and the Ladies' Auxiliary held a service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Members of Branch 109 and the Auxiliary also formed an honor guard at Monday's service. Honorary bearers were Claire Bedard, Clarence Hoy, Harold Chambers, Roy Mugford and Huvilard tatt•rbll. Pallbearers were Terry McGuire, Eric Gosse, Don Henry, Stan Profit, Don Tipert and Ken Frisby. ROBISON CAPTAIN CHARI KENNETH STOWE Captain Charles Kenneth Stowe of Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Sunday, November 13 at the age of 76. He was born in Goderich on February 20, 1907 to Kenneth and Lena (Fritzley) Stowe. He was a captain with Canada Steamship Lines; a member of Knox Presbyterian Church; a member of Maitland Lodge no. 33 A.F. and A.M., Bluewater Chapter no. 284 Order of the Eastern Star; and Huron Lodge no. 62 I.O.O.F. He married Nonie Barlow. She survives him. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Don (Jane) Stokes of Goderich, Mrs. Jim (Charlene) Howie of Delisle, Saskatchewan and Mrs. Doug (Patricia) Harrison of Goderich; one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Aileen) Caldwell of Dearborn, Michigan; and six grandchildren, Scott and Mark Stokes, Brenda and Brent Howie and Angela and Karen Harrison. Lucinda Janette Robison was the beloved wife of the late William T. Robison of Auburn and the former wife of the late Reverend Eric L. Anderson of Lambeth. She is 'survived by three daughters, Bernice (wife of the Reverend H.F. Currie) of Stratford, Joan (Mrs. I.W. Stephenson) of Mississauga and Jetrid (Mrs. M.C. Osmond) of Toronto; sister, Barbara (wife of the late Reverend T.W. Hazelwood) of Toronto; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel in Mississauga on Friday with burial on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Woodland Cemetery, London. g.UTH. ELLEN GRIFFEN A former Auburn resident, Ruth Ellen Giffen,- passed away at the Extendicare Nursing Home in Scarborough on Monday, November 14 in her 88th year. She was born in Hullett Township, Con- cession 13, the daughter of James Jackson and Eliza Edmunston. She was a school teacher and was married to Harvey Giffen. They resided for many years at Wasaga Beach and then Guelph. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Len (Agnes) Parry of Agincourt; grandchildren, Sandy, Ellen and Susan McLennan and Dorothy and Linda Warrington; and one great-grandchild, Andrew. She was predeceased by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Norma McLelland. She was also predeceased by three brothers, William, Dr. John E. and Ernest. The funeral service was held last Wed- nesday at the McIntyre and Wilkie Funeral Home, Delhi Street, Guelph with burial in Guelph cemetery.
