A good crowd attended the second annual
Christmas Fair and Bazaar sponsored by
the Auburn Booster Club in the Auburn
Cornanunity Memorial Hall last Saturday.
The door was hi the charge of Mrs. Dennis
Bricker and she sold tickets on the two
gingerbread houses which will be drawn for
on December 6.
The very successful bake table was in the
charge of Mrs. George Collins and Mrs. Jeff
Sowerby.
Mrs. Allan Craig and Miss Sharon
Glousher were in charge of selling T-shirts,
hats and the new sweat shirts with the
Auburn crest. They are taking orders and if
you want them for Christmas, please put in
the order to Mrs. Craig two weeks before
you want them. Don't forget that every shirt
you buy is $1 more for the new fountain the
Club plans to place on the playground.
Balloons were given to the children, a gift
from Huron County Children's Services.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Ross Dobie,
Mrs. John Blok, Mrs. Bob Powell, Mrs. Beth
Sheppard and Mrs. Mark Arthur. Crafters
were present from Kincardine, Lucknow,
Goderich, Blyth and Auburn. Other mem-
bers of the club assisted at many booths
during the day.
Miss Lode Cartwright and Mrs. Ross
Daer were in charge of advertising and
crafters.

The November meeting of the Auburn
Women's Institute was held in the Auburn
Community Memorial Hall last Tuesday
with the president, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock
in the chair. She welcomed all and opened
with the Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect and
O Canada with Mrs. Emerson Rodger at the
piano.
Mrs. Harold Gaunt of St. Helens, Mrs.
May Vair and Norman Hays of the Wingham
and District Hospital Board gave a video
tape presentation of the planned expansion
to their hospital.
The minutes were accepted as read by the
secretary, Mrs. Robert Peck.
Knitting for Family and Children's Ser-
vices was received and the president
thanked all members who had done mitts,
caps and scarves.
Mrs. Elliott Lapp gave a report of the
London area convention held the end of
October.
Plans were made for Mrs. Donald Haines
to get a box for donations for the Huron
County Ministry of Children's services.
The roll call was answered by telling
"recollections of your early school days".
Education and Cultural Activities was the
theme of the meeting and Mrs. Marjorie
McDougall introduced Mrs. Eleanor
Bradnock who showed slides and spoke of
the Associated Country Women of the World
Conference held in Vancouver in June. She
had a display of pins and souvenirs ex-
changed with members around the world.
Mrs. Marjorie McDougall played a piano
solo.
It was decided to give a donation to the
Children's Memorial Hospital, the Wingham
Hospital and the Huron County Homebound.
The meeting was closed by singing the
Queen, followed by served by Mrsthe Grace.
.Tena Empey, was assisted
by Mrs. Robert Peck.
Winner of the lucky cup was Mrs. Frank
Raithby and the nearest anniversary, Mrs.
Tom Lawlor.

Mrs. R.J. Young of Stratford and her son
Craig Ritchie of Goderich visited last
Saturday with Mrs. Tom Johnston and Miss
Laura Phillips.
The Reverend and Mrs. Wayne Good of
Port Elgin visited on Monday with Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Raithby.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Eston of Toronto
visited on the weekend with her mother,
Mrs. Mary Rollinson and brother Murray
Rollinson.
Mrs. David McDiarmid of Goderich and
Mrs. Celia Taylor and Mrs. Robert Turner
visited last Thursday with Mrs. Tom
Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips.
Mrs. Gerry Beimers returned home last
week after several weeks as a patient in
Wingham Hospital and University Hospital
in London after she suffered from a frac-
tured hip.

The Auburn Booster Club held its annual Christmas Fair and
Bazaar at the Auburn Community Memorial Hall Saturday. Many
people enjoyed browsing through the numerous tables of arts,
Grace was pronounced by Gary Shut-
tleworth and the smorgasbord dinner was
set up by Mrs. Marjorie McDougall and
Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer.
A sing -song was led by Mrs. Greg Park.
Piano solos were played by Tafline Scott,
Spanish Fiesta and Fox Hunt. Ross
Robinson showed the cartoon, Elmer, the
Elephant. Miss Anita Gross gave a reading,
Verbs and Dwight Caldwell played three
selections on his guitar. Another interesting
film, In Society, was shown by Mr. Robinson
and the evening's program was finished
with some toe -tapping selections played by
Oliver Anderson on the violin, accompanied
on the piano by his daughter, Mrs. Greg
Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Shuttleworth and
family were introduced and the decorated
Christmas box received donations to the
Ministry of Children's Services.
Visit Manor
Several Auburn citizens went to Maitland
Manor last Wednesday to entertain the
residents who were celebrating birthdays in
Twenty-four ladies attended the rug
braiding course on Monday morning and
saw pictures taken at other summary days
by other counties that had completed the
project last year. The lacing of the braids to
make rugs and placemats was demon-
strated and all members did a sample.
Mrs. Edgar Daer arrived home last
Thursday evening after a very enjoyable
two week's visit to Harkstede, Holland. She
accompanied Mrs. Mrs. Mary Smid of
Kincardine, formerly of Blyth, when she
attended her parents' 40th wedding an-
niversary at Delfzijl, Holland. This town is
situated on the border between Holland and
Germany. They toured Germany and said
that the weather was good and the scenery
was picturesque.
Winners at the weekly euchre party held
in the Auburn Community Memorial Hall
last week were: novelty - Mrs. Tom
Lawrence, high lady - Mrs. Dave Scott, low
lady - Mrs. Donald Cartwright, high man -
Elliott Lapp and low man - Donald Haines.
The winner of last week's mini -lottery
draw held by the Auburn and District Lions
Club was John Bannister.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rodger and Glen of
South Mountain, Mr. and Mrs. Les f ndger of
Belleville, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rodger of
Toronto and Mrs. Pearl Rollinson of Toronto
spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Emerson Rodger. Alberta and
Donald Mallory of Kirkaldy,
Mrs. Henry Ferguson of Champion, Alberta
visited their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver
Anderson, for a few days last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines returned last
week after visiting with Mrs. Haines' sister,
Mrs. Harold Davis and Mr. Davis at
Bomansville, N.Y. They also visaed with
their son, Ed Haines, Mrs. Haines, Rachel
and David at Niagara Falls.
Congratulations to Angela Schneider on
receiving County Honours at the 4-H
Achievement Night held in Brookside
School.
Family Night
The annual Family Night of the Auburn
Horticultural Society and the Auburn
Women's Institute was held last Friday
evening in the Auburn Community
Memorial Hall. The president of the Hor-
ticultural Society was in charge of the
program.

Readings from the old fourth reader, The
Song my Paddle Sings and My Native Land,
were given by Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock.
Oliver Anderson played violin selections,
accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Marjorie
McDougall. Mrs. Tom Jardin and Mrs.
Emerson Rodger sang two duets, Carolina
Moon and The Bible Tells Me So. Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Robinson played mouthorgan
duets accompanied on the autoharp by Mrs.
Edith Walker of Goderich.
Mrs. Charles Gibbons thanked the Auburn
people for giving the program and birthday
cake and coffee were served to everyone.
Ordination
A special ordination service was held last
Sunday in the Huron Chapel Missionary
church for David Thiessen. The Reverend
Edwin Prosser, district superintendent of
the. Missionary Church, Canada East, of-
ficiated for the service that was held at 3
p.m. The scripture lesson was read by the
Reverend Henry Runhart, pastor of the
Listowel Missionary Church. The ordination
message was given by the Reverend J.E.
Montgomery, pastor of the Zephyr
Missionary Church. Two solos were sung by
Mrs. Pam Thiessen.

Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Lawrence for their 43rd wedding
anniversary dinner were: Mrs. Irene
Dickey and Gary Collins of Ripley, Mr. and
Mrs. John and Audrey Rutledge and family
