This was much enjoyed. A surprise party followed at the Canadian ' Legion Hall with .45 friends andrelatives attending. A very detailed and humorous roast was presented by Keith Cutt and Jack Seaman. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful dance music supplied by the Sound Era and a very appetizing smorgasbord , lunch supplied by the friends;completed the celebration, - The whole evening was Much appreciated by Bud and Ruth. At this time, many friends who were not present at the celebration, join in to extend congratulations to Bud and Ruth. ( Photo by Joanne Buchanan Carroll accepts new position The principal of Seaforth Public School has moved up to the position of superinten- dent of operations with the Huron County Board of .Education. Paul Carroll, who has been principal in Seaforth since 1977, was chosen out of 34 candidates for the position. Mr. Carroll received his basic teachers' education at Stratford Teacher's College in 1967. He started teaching at Victoria Public School in Goderich that same year. He became vice-principal at that school in 1973. In 1973, Mr. Carroll became a vice- principal at Seaforth Public School. Active in the community, having served as Goderich councillor and later reeve, Mr. Carroll is currently chairman of the Van Egmond Foundation in Seaforth. Bills and accounts in the amount of $239,427 were approved and ordered paid by Colborne Township Council at their regular meeting ' held on November 1. Included in this amount was $191,678.64 to the Huron County Board of Education; $9,311 to the Province of Ontario for tile drain deben- tures; $8,551 to the Township Home Renewal Reserve Account; $3,846.04 to Coldstream Concrete for material supplied for con- struction of the Renon Municipal Dram and $3,702 to Maitland Valley Conservation Authority as final payment on their 1983 requisition. By-law no. 19-1983, to assume Part 1 of Plan 22R1357 in Block E into the township road system, was given all required readings and was,passed. The parcel of land in question was purchased in 1981 to allow improvement of the curve on the township road directly east of the M.T.C. shed east of Highway 21. A claim by Larry Fisher for compensation for turkeys killed or reported missing as a result of anattack by a dog or dogs not his own, was considered by council and com- pensation for one turkey, verified as having been killed by a dog by the Livestock Valuer, D. Sowerby, was approved. The contract for the 1983-84 snowplow season has been awarded to Keith Nicholson of R.R. 2 Bluevale and the Reeve and Clerk were authorized to sign the required agreement to formalize the contract. Notice has been received that the Ontario Municipal Board will be holding a hearing into the approval of the passing of the township's comprehensive zoning by-law no. 18-1982. The hearing will be held in the township community hall at Carlow, commencing at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 16 and is expected to last two and one half days. The meeting was adjourned to November 15.
