Because this is a 1980s house, it was
designed in metric on the 100 mm module.
Much thought has been given to style.

The trimmed -down model has one hun-
dred square metres (100 m2) of living
space, 60 m2 on the maid floor and another
40 rn2 upstairs. The finished two -storeys
house is designed to sell for 843,500P
land costs. That price can be reduced by
leaving the upstairs unfinished.
It's a house designed to show
municipalities that the "European -sized"

The Ontario Ministry of Energy will hold

Ontario centres this fall and winter, On-
tario Energy Minister Philip Andrewes an-
nounced recently.
"These meetings will outline a simple
and practical approach to energy manage-
ment
in religious buildings,"
said. "They will provide a valuable oppor-
tunity for those involved in the day-to-day
operations of religious buildings to ex-
change ideas on saving energy."
The meetings will also deal with local
applications of energy management in
religious buildings • S t Andrew's
For example, Ate of the

of energy saving measures. One of the
oldest churches in the borough, St. An-
drew's changed its heating system from
oil
to gas, put timers on the heating system,
and installed spot electric heating

tain in areas of the church. These and other

tractive. So he's tried to make the Triple A
-house appear low and wide.
A front wall that extends out on both
sides makes the house look bigger than it
is. The front porch, held up, in one corner
by a distinctive column, is a covered
walkway leading into the house, When the
house was built as a demonstration project
for HUDAC Vancouver during the national
association's annual meeting earlier this
year, the .column was Corinthian but it
could be any type of post.

Kissing that old flame goodbye isn't the only way
to reduce your oil consumption. If that oil fur-,
nace is still in good shape, you can take advantage
of converting to a dual energy heating system.
Instead of replacing your furnace, introduce
it to an electric plenum heater, heat pump, elec-
tric boiler or baseboard heaters. These dual
energy systems let oil and electricity work in har-
mony to heat your home more efficiently
The

more economically. Operation

electric system works until the coldest winter
days, then your oil furnace automatically takes
over.
In most cases, add-on electric heat will
reduce your oil consumption by up to 75%.
Even more in some cases. And a reduction of
that magnitude can make a dramatic difference
to the total cost of heating y
PLENUM HEATER.
The "plenum" is the warm air chamber at the
top of your forced air oil furnace. That's exactly
where a plenum
heater is installed.
So that on most days,
the fan circulates
more economical,
electrically generated heat.
HEAT PUMP.
Even on cold winter nights, there is still warmth
in the outside
-. air. Just like a
refrigerator, the
heat pump ex-
tracts that warmth
and pumps it
into your home.
Plus there's an
added bonus. In the GoElectriC

These can also be used as a dual energy system.

They're installed in
individual rooms to quietly

Install a dual energy system now and you
