Minaker says Jehovah Witnesses are confused Dear Editor, In reply to Mr. Barney's letter: I must admit that Charles Taze Russell was the furthest individual from my mind. It is only by Mr. Barney's request that I con- tinue from 1821 to 1897. Mr. Russell finally obtained his divorce in 1897. Later, he tried to defraud the farmers by selling Miracle Wheat at $60 a bushel. This sa a attercartoonf record. A Brooklyn paperprinted satirizing Miracle Wheat. I have been consigned to perdition by Mr. Barney, Rev. 21:8. In my defence, I submit the quotation of Peter "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God," which I believe Mat. 16:16 is against the quotation of Charles Taze Russell. He said, "When Jesus was in the flesh, He was a perfect human being; previous to that time, He was a perfect spiritual being of the highest or divine order." Are you confused? So are numerous Jehovah Witnesses. The above quotation discredits the witness of the Apostles. After Christ's resur- rection, He ate with them, and He asks Thomas who was in doubt as to His resur- rection, "Put your hand into my side, and be not faithless, but believing." The Apostles, Peter, James and John and ORCHARDS a'/2 MILES SOWN OF GODERICH ON s DRIVE-IN ROA The o you 0:1 No RV6IW DAi46•o1 O.P.D. SIIT,ON all LASSAUN FAR 4ZARICeT OR0-4AR©S witnessed His ascension into Heaven, and they were informed He would come in like manner as they had seen Him go. Jesus could not be just a perfect man when He performed the supreme sacrifice on the cross, because the Divine Laws had been broken and it required Divine Restitu- tion to make it permanent. In order for God to justly judge sin, He had to have personal experience with it. This experience He obtained on the cross when He said, "My God, my God, why hast Thou foresaken me?" To believe anything less than this is distorting the truth, and makes it null and void. Any religious ordinances that the Witnesses might practise would not have any redemptive significance because of their unbelief. Jesus was the Word made flesh, as the Bi- ble states in John 1:1 and John 1:19. The Jehovah Witnesses have their own Bi- ble, the New World Translation, but the authorities in Greek and Hebrew willinot en- dorse this translation, so apparently it leaves much to be desired. They have been trying to revise Chris- tianity ever since their inception. Sincerely, N.J.Minaker. Tottenham will celebrate Centennial Year in 1984 Dear Editor, 1984 is Centennial Year in Tottenham!! Sincerely, Ralph Hatton, Reeve, Village of Tottenham A waste of school property I ear Editor, The recent media coverage of the Perth County Council's request for budget ex- planation has prompted me to finish a letter that I previously, started. On July 31, I noticed a large steel garbage container, sitting beside the storage building on the North Easthope school ground. 1 looked into the container and what 1 saw was a disgusting waste of old school equipment. Unicef is part of Hallowe'en Dear Editor, Again, this year over one million Canadian youngsters across Canada will be "Trick or Treating" for UNICEF on Halloween night. With your help, the contributions they collect will fund UNICEF self-help programs in 111 countries, protecting the lives of approximately 500 million children around the world. Our goal this year is $550,000. Your support of UNICEF's vital Halloween fundraising campaign is essential to its success. You will be alerting Ontarioans everywhere to be ready to assist UNICEF's young canvassers on Halloween night. UNICEF has achieved so much in the past with your help - we hope that we can count on your support again this year! Thank you. I personally removed five reel-to-reel tape recorders, one -Kodak 16 mm sound movie projector ( the kind you can rent from the library ), three -35 mm film projectors, three -school desks, an 8 foot x 14 foot trampoline and a brass musical instrument - a tuba. Things 1 left were a 3M photocopier, manual typewriters, black and white TV monitors, numerous electrical gadgets, overhead projectors and cases of video film and school desks. What irritates me is that old doesn't mean useless. The trampoline needed a new mat, the tuba was demolished, as it was on the bottom with the other equipment thrown on top. The rest of the equipment, in various states of repair, could have been sold to other users, be they other school boards, private schools, nursery schools or private individuals. In addition to this waste you have to add the cost of the garbage bin probably $200 ). 1 am also irritated that the local Home and School Association work at putting on bake sales, garage sales, auction sales and ask for donations to buy equipment — only to have it discarded. The equipment defined as garbage, could have been turned over to the Horne and School Association. This would have saved the cost of the garbage bin. If the School Board is so insensitive to the redirection of old equipment, then I fail to see why the Perth County Council, who represent Perth County residents shouldn't ask you about their budget.
