GDCI graduates for 1983
Receiving special awards at the annual GDCI com-
mencement exercises Friday evening, September 30 were,
front row, left to right, Anita Hodges, recipient of the
William Cutt Memorial Scholarship for highest standing in
two languages other than English in Grade 12 and 13; Cindy
Clutton, recipient of the George Buchanan Music Award;
Lisa Baechler, recipient of the Catholic Women's League
Prize for highest standing in Grade 10 French; and Janice
Daer, recipient of two Goderich Community Credit Union
Scholarships for the best average in Grade 12 commercial
subjects and for the highest average over four years in
commercial subjects. Back row, left to right, are Nisa
Howe, Maple Leaf Chapter IODE Award recipient for
highest standing in Grade 10 history; Angela Schneider,
Maple Leaf Chapter IODE Award recipient for advanced
level Canadian geography; Kelly Schweitzer, Town of
Goderich Award winner; Margret Kuhn, Goderich Lions
Club Award recipient for Grade 13 Canadian Studies; and
Ken Taylor, A.M. Robertson Award winner for

These three graduating students were honored with
special awards at the annual GDCI commencement

Several GDCI students were honored for scholastic achievement at the annual com-
mencement exercises held Friday evening, September 30. Front row, left to right, are
Doreta Jackson, urban recipient of the R.D. Munro Scholarship for commercial and -or
technical subjects; Kim Schweitzer, A.M. Robertson Award recipient for progress and
development; Cindy Hayward, W.H. Robertson Scholarship recipient for highest marks in
English, Grade 11 and 12; and Angela Schneider, Veterans' Memorial Scholarship recipient
for highest Grade 9 average. Back row, left to right, are Charlie Wick, rural recipient of the

Chemical Workers' Union (Local 16) Award for Grade 12 economics; Jennifer Gowanlock,
recipient of the William E. Elliott Scholarship (Goderich Rotary Club) for journalism;
Janice Daer, recipient of two Signal -Star Awards for highest net typing speed and highest
marks in Grade 12 Communications and Business Procedures; and Jay D:ehmann,
recipient of the Maple Leaf Chapter IODE Award for general level Canadian geography.
