Kim Fritzley, with 12 points, and Chris Stapleton, with 11, paced the Viking victory. Cathie Gallow had seven points and Anne Allan added six. The game was a "rubber- match" rubbermatch" between the two teams. Grey Highlands had defeated the Vikings on a last -second basket in the Vikings' own tournament but the Vikings had defeated the Flesherton school in the second round of the Sarnia St. Pat's tournament a week later. The Viitings reached the championship final by defeating -Erindale Collegiate 4745 in _opening rowed play and then beating Aurora 44-21 lathe semi-finals, Kiln Fritzley with 14 and Minn Graham with 13 points led against 8rindalewho were the defending tournament champions. Anne Allan added six points for the Vikings, Cathie Gallow and Denise Connelly had four apiece and Christine Stapleton had two points. Against Aurora, Kim Fritzley had 191 points Anne Allan hooped eight, Allison Graham had six, Christine Stapleton five, Mary Alexander four and Cathie Gallow two. Including tournament, exhibition and league games, coach Phil Bugler's Vikings now boast a 14-4 won -lost record. Viking basketball team wins first two games time. TD BYavm The GDCI senior Vikings'won the first two games of their Huron -Perth Conference schedule last week, defeating Stratford Northwestern 62-34 in Stratford Monday ander overpowering Norwell 87-6 here Wednesday. Kim Fritzley had 18 points, Mary O'Neill 15 and Christine Stapleton 14 in the Viking's victory over Northwestern. Sheila Stock was Northwestern's top scorer with 12 points. The Vikings faced a totally inept Norwell squad and held a 28-0 lead after the first quarter here Wednesday. It was 47-2 at half Kim Fritzley, with 31 points, paced the Viking attack. Mary O'Neill had 14 points and Anne Allan had 11. Allison Graham threw in nine points, Mary Alexander had six and Kathleen Donnelly, Tammy Gibbons and Cathy Gallow had four points apiece. Christine Stapleton, Denise Connelly and Mary Murphy each had two points. The Vikings continue their league schedule this week with games in Exeter, Tuesday, and here tomorrow (Thursday) against Seaforth. Duplicate Bridge Club scores The Goderich Duplicate Bridge Club holds the President's Cup game the fourth Tuesday each month. On September 27 nine tables were in play for a Mitchell game with an average score of 941/2. Mary Donnelly and Eleanor Erskine were first North-South with 121; Verna Worthy and P.K. Venki were second at 108; Evelyn Galbraith and Helen Tench were third with 102; and Barb Howe and Frank Laverty were fourth with 101. Tied for first East-West with 1071/2 were Helen Gardiner and Audrey Tobin, and Dawna Sproule and John Wood; Louise Hetherington and Pat Stringer placed third with 103; and Marie Huff and Norah More were fourth with 1011/2. At this time in the race for the cup, the first four in ranking are Louise Hether- ington, Mary Dopnelly, Verna Worthy and Eleanor Erskine. ( photo by Anne Narejko) Sunset awards night a success. On Saturday night, the Sunset hosted their annual awards night -closing party. As usual it was a smashing success with ap- proximately 140 people in attendence. Great food and good fellowship made the night special. The Kay Lyndon Memorial Trophy is presented each year to the most improved lady golfer. This year the honor went to Dorthy Bourdeau, who received the award from the President of the Sunset Ladies Section, Marilyn Graham. In a similar fashion, the John Sturdy Memorial Trophy is presented each year to the most improved male golfer by Karen Sturdy. This years recipient is Lloyd Schoenhals. Also on Saturday evening, perfect at- tendance awards were given to Marilyn Graham, Mary Lynne Telford, Tony Bedard, Al MacDonald and Ron Harris. Every member, who played a total of 12 nights received a prize. The winners of the ladies'nieht playoffs were; first flight, low gross - Joyce Bolton; low net - Shirley Baechler; second flight, low gross - Ellen Connelly; low net - Marj Smith; third flight, low gross - Dorothy Bogie; low net - Velma Haylow; and fourth flight, low gross - Joan Barrie; low net - Patti Powell. In the mens' night playoff action, Tony Bedard won low gross and Don Elliott won low net. The first low net winners in each of the three flights were Pat Conlon, Bill Neal and John McGuire. The staff at Sunset were highly praised. They were Leroy Bedour, Tim and Kerry Willows. The results of last Tuesday night's men's night were: low gross - Tony Bedard; low net - Paul Baechler, Don Armstrong and Bob McDougall; second flight, Stew Juyck, Dr. Conlon and Art Burt; third flight, Jack Trebish and Ron Harris.
