-H beef
sale planned
Here's an opportunity to fill your
freezers with top quality beef.
On Monday, October 10, 4-H members
from Huron and Bruce Counties will be
showing and selling their 4-H beef calves to
the public. The 441 calves represent
several months of dedicated effort on the
part of the 4-H members to learn and to
economically raise a top quality beef
animal. Through their own initiative and
the encouragement of parents and
volunteer 441 leaders, these 4-H members
have worked hard to learn more about the
beef industry.
This show and sale is an excellent oppor-
tunity to come out and see what the 4-H
members have to offer.
All the 4-H calves will be judged at 10:30
a.m. by Jim Coultes from Wiregham in
order to determine the sale order. The top
animal will win a trophy donated by
Modern livestock Auctions. The sale will
start at 1 p.m. with Jack Riddell, M.P.P.
as the auctioneer.
The past two shows and sales have been
very successful due to the strong com-
munity support and the dedicated work of
the 4-H members and leaders. So, why not
come out on the 10th and see future
farmers in action!
4-H group discusses skin, dental care
The Tiger Dunlop 4-H group, ' Confident
Consumers", held their fourth and fifth
meetings on Sunday, October 2 at the home
of Helen Riehl.
The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge
and the roll call was "What is your money
saving idea using a skin care product?"
Members discussed the use of the skin to
the body and their individual skin types.
They then actually did basic skin care -
cleansing, applying astringent and
moisturizing, steaming, using an abrasive
scrub and applying a facial mask. They then
expressed how their faces felt after all this
care.
For meeting five, the roll call was any one
thing you should do to take care of your eyes
or teeth. Members discussed facts regar-
ding eye sight and eye care, how to prevent
injuries to the eye and the use of sensible sun
glasses. A demonstration on eye make-up
proved very interesting.
Do's and don'ts for dental care were then
discussed and unit pricing received special
attention. A make-up demonstration was
performed on one of the members.
