He also had seven acres of garden and or- chards to tend to and looked after cows, chickens and pigs. Mrs. Daer was kept busy in the kitchen, making meals from scratch for her family of nine children. In those days, everyone had big families, says Mr. Daer. In order of age, the Daer children ikare: Murray, Benson, Ralph, Allen, Henry, Luelle (Martin)., Clay,. neg,,. Joseph, and l'tme . are diving in, various, locations around the country except for Henry 'who died. There are also 10 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren„ Mr. and Mrs. Daer each have one sister still living; Mr. Daer's is Rose Willis of Huronview and Mrs. Daer's is Grace Crich of Clinton. After 65 years of marriage, Mr. Daer still jokes that it was his wife who "popped the question". Both are good humoured, alert and enjoy good health which they feel they owe to "hard work and good food."
