V Strolling down Main St. and
Egmnd Housee on Ciderf st'83 we weekend will be a little
like stepping back in time to the 19th century.
You can watch the blacksmith, Jim Wallace, the potter
Rob Tetu; the weaver Chris Scott, the Ukranian egg painter,
Hilda Sampson, and the woodturner Ray Hannah
demonstrate the skills commonly seen during the days of
the pioneers and even participate by carving apple head
dolls with Frances Hook.
Cidermakingwill be demonstrated while Gerald Marten
uses his apple press and free cider will be given on Sunday
to those who buy a Ciderfest '83 button for Si. The buttgn
also entitles wearers to free admission to the House afid
events and merchant specials on Saturday. Proceeds from
the button go to the Van Egmond Restoration Fund:
Antique cars, antique machinery and threshing
machines will also be on display. Pioneer Seed Cornis
providing a popcorn maker so that free popcorn will be
given to the children.
Children can also have their faces made up by Katimavik
participants and enjoy pony rides.
By touring the Van Egmond House, Cardno Hall, and
Frank Sills' museum, the whole family can discover and
help to preserve the heritage of the Seaforth area.
