He was born in Barrie on June 10,1896 to Mr. and Mrs. James Nicholson. He worked as a marine engineer and served in both World War I and II. He married Edna (Houghton) McPherson. She. survives him. He was predeceased by one son,- Larry and one sister, Muriel A funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home in Goderich on Saturday, September 24 at 1 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Royal of- ficiated. The Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies' Auxiliary to Branch 109 held a memorial service at the funeral home Friday evening, September 23. Interment was in the Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. CONSTABLE BRUCE KENNEDY CREW Constable Bruce Kennedy Crew of Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Sunday, September 25 at the age of 47 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born in Collingwood on April 10, 1936 to Fred and Muriel (Ken- nedy) Crew. He worked as a police constable with the Goderich Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. He was the assistant coach of the Goderich Signal -Star Juveniles hockey team and a member of Kpiox Presbyterian Church, Goderich. He married Emily Isobel Wilde in Collingwood. She survives him. Also surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Crew of Collingwood; one daughter, Mrs. Carson (Emily) Milley of Goderich; three sons, Stephen of Kit- chener -and Peter and Stuart, both of Goderich; one sister, Mrs. George (Barbara) Backmier of Pembroke; one brother, Raymond of Wallingford, Connecticutt; and one granddaughter, Angela Milley. A funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood on Wednesday, September 28 at 2 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Royal of Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich, of- ficiated. McCallum Funeral Home of Goderich was in charge of arrangements. Police officers from across Ontario formed an honor guard at the funeral service. Honorary pallbearers were members of the O.P.P. JEAN ELIZABETH CURRIE Jean Elizabeth Currie of Clinton died in Clinton Public Hospital on Sept. 23 at the ageof74. The daughter of William McKenzie and Margaret Murdoch, both predeceased, she grew up in Stanley Township. On July 12, 1936, she mar- ried Howard Currie in Brucefield United Church and settled in Clinton. As a school teacher, she taught in both Stanley and Goderich Townships. She was also a librarian at the Clinton Library from 1960 to 1965. She was also a member of the Official Board of Wesley -Willis United Chur- ch. Mrs. Currie is survived by one daughter, Marge Bletcher of Trenton and two sons, Ken Currie of Hanover and Doug Currie of Goderich. Also surviving are three brothers, Rev. Andrew McKenzie of Perth, Phillip McKenzie of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and William McLachlan of R.R. 3 Kippen. Eight grandchildren also survive. A funeral service was held at Wesley -Willis United Church on September ,26, with The Reverend James Bechtel officiating. Inter- ment followed in the Clinton Cemetery. ` Pallbearers were Lloyd Bond, Douglas Cantelon, Robert Irwin, Frank Mutch, Don Switzer and Eric Switzer, all of Clinton. The flower bearers were Ray Currie of Goderich, Brenda (Bletcher) Sedlacek of Toronto and Sherri Currie of Hanover. Ball and Falconer Funeral Home was in charge of ar- rangements. ROBERT ROY FITZSIMONS Robert Roy Fitzsimons of Bayfield died in Clinton Public Hospital on Sept. 12. He was born on Jan. 13, 1911, the eldest child of Robert Bertram Fitzsimons and Lavina (Cantwell) Fitz- simons, "ton. On Aug. 3',1940 he married Ruby Ellen P. Newman of Wiingham, -Along with his wife Ruby he is survived by their four children. Sylvia and Robert -Lo an of Rodney.., Kaieen a 1 Humphries of London, Terry and Linda Fitzsimons en, d Kelso and Mario 1;'1, tl7aimons of -Bald. Aiso surviving are five grandchildren_ Darlene, John aid(d . Tient Smale, Vincent and Suzanne Fitzsimons, his two .sisters and one brother, Josephine Vail of Delaware, Frances and Vidal Mills of Dora chester, Norris and Elene Fitzsimons of London. He was predeceased by a sister Grace, Mrs. Wm. Arm- strong, of Goderich. Mr. Fitzsimons was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Bayfield. Masonic Lodge No. 84 AF and AM Clinton Legion Branch 140, Clinton and a Charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 266 Clinton. In 1942 he joined No. • 30 Provost Corps in London. He obtained the rank of Cpl and worked n the Orderly Rbom until his discharge in Mat., 1946. For a few weeks he worked in the Office of Hanover Transport Clinton and in May, 1946 he went with the Dept. of National Defence, C.F.B. Clinton. He was a civilian super- visor upervisor in Accounts for 23 years and two years part time in The Office of Sandy Contracting, Meneset Park, Goderich. After leaving High School he had worked for the W.D. Fair Book Store, Clinton for 16 years before going in the Service. In Nov. 1953, Roy and his wife Ruby and four children moved to their home on Chiniguy St., Bayfield. Weeks, Listowel and John Jamieson of Bayfield. Interment was held in Bayfield. cemetery. Through the years, Roy had been Church treasurer and Legion ' branch treasurer, had audited for the church and several other organizations. While not enjoying the best of health for some time, he was in Clinton Public Hospital for four weeks prior to his passing. His floral , tributes and donations to - the Clinton Public Hospital were numerous, also to the Trinity `Anglican Memorial Fund. WMS meet The September meeting of the WMS Afternoon Auxiliary of Knox Presbyterian Church opened with the president, Mrs. G. Henderson, presiding and offering prayer. This was followed by the hymn, "What a Friend we have in Jesus." Secretary Mildred Mar- wick read the .minutessof the June meeting :-and ::the executive meeting. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Agnes MacEwan who also received the of- fering which was dedicated by the president. It was reported that the Huron Presbyterial will be held at Belgrave on Wed- nesday, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. with Beatrice Scott as guest(speaker. Mrs. 0. " . Kaitting, accompanied by Mrs. C. Edward; sang the duet, "In the Garden." The scripture, read by ,Mrs. Harold MacPhee, was on the second chapter -of Song of Solomon and, a poen on flowers, . written -by Mrs. Celia Taylor, WaS read. Prayer was given #y Mrs. Arthur Young.: ;•, Mrs. Royal introittted the guest speaker, , Mrs. Jean Croft who spoke and showed slides on the church garden at the First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, Florida.
