I410KNOW11/ - The Lueknow
Fire Department and the
,staff of the Pinecrest Nur-
sing Horne assimilated the
evacuation of one wing off the
home in a lefty drill on Sept.
7. The eltaeuation was based
on a chemical reaction
caging toxic fumes.
Pinecrest administrator
Dean Dolbear said the
exercise was designed to
evaluate and improve the
procedures set out in the
nursing home safety
manual. It also provided
practice for the police,
firemen, nursing home staff
and 32 residents.
Rec Board
takes over
school
SEAFORTH - Seaforth's
recreation department is
taking over Adult .Night
School from the high school
again this year.
The program is unique in
Huron County, because the
school isn't running it and
according to rec director
Bryan Peter, "We still have
free use of the high school's
facilities and we. get 100 per
cent cooperation with them
concerning the facilities."
A change in the grant
structure, which funds the
night school made it ad-
vantageous for the
recreation department - to
tako over the program last
year.
Courses offered this year
include furniture refinishing,
photography, adult
volleyball, crocheting,
knitting, sewing, ceramics,
basketball and typing.
Adults
attend
SDHS
SEAFORTH - Six mature
students registered for high
school in Seaforth this fall.
The adult students are at-
tending classes at the
Seaforth, ` District -B%gh
SChod SDHS):'• •'"
Because SDHS is on a
semester system, it's
flexible and an adult student
could have four high school
credits by January or eight
by June, explained principal
Harry Scott.,
It takes a total of 27 credits
to earn a Grade 12 diploma.
There are no minimuni
qualifications for adults
students and Mr. Scott ex-
plained that adult students
can work at various levels
and at various times of the
year. For instance, an adult
who's busy this time of year
can start high school courses
in January. One adult
student is studying typing
from Sept. to Jan, and
second typing in the second
semester, in an effort to
obtain two years of typing in
one year.
Adults take classes with
younger SDHS students and
Mr. Scott says they are a
good influence on the
teenagers.

have their recommendations
to Cabinet shortly
thereafter."
Wrye told the Minister that
members of the Procedural
Affairs Committee had been
informed that the recom-
mendations of the report
were "not too awfully good".
The Chairperson of the On-
tario Status of Women Coun-
cil indicated that she had not
seen the final proposals, that
they were hardly worth the
time and effort put into this
work, or the long delay in
producing any significant in-
itiatives to begin to attack
the terrible wage differen-
tials and the continuing job
ghettoes faced by the women
of Ontario.
He concluded, "All tax-
payers of this province,
especially women, have a
right to an accounting of this
disgraceful situation. I gain
little solace from comments
by Ontario Manpower Com-
mission Chairman Alan
Wolfson, in Committee ..
that recommendations flow-
ing from the report will sur-
face in a month or so. We
have heard this promise
before. The time is long past
when the report should have
been placed before the
public for consideration. I
urge you to avoid further
delay with the immediate
release of this vital report."
