She wore a floor -length mulberry crystalette sheath gown with matching georgette overblouse, long sleeved, ap- pliqued with matching lace Round 'n About with Martha Last week Lhad a nice sur- prise - a letter from a friend who lives in the same park in Florida where we live in the winter. Her "other" home is in Delhi, New York. She is a very busy little lady, in her eighties, who does beautiful needlework - intricate quilt patterns especially, with wall hang- ings and other needle fan- tastics you wouldn't.believe. They're a joy to see! Sometime this month she has a craft show where she will exhibit her work and she has 15 entries for it. How about THAT! Last winter after being almost blind, she had a cor- nea transplant - one eye. Her amazement and joy had us all in tears. What a wonder- ful thing to be able to get your eyesight back. She knows I like lighthouses. so she has been collecting pictures of some in her part of the Atlantic Coast. I am thrilled by her thoughtfulness and anxious to see them. For a great many years, she had been a guide and counsellor to young girl* at summer camps. I feel those young people repaid her with their love as she's the youngest 80 I have ever known. She and her husband always drove to Florida. Since he is gone, she has had others help with the driving - but she is worried 'she may have to do 'it all herself this year - and over 80! I know she will if someone doesn't turn up! She amazes me! I believe all her years with young people, have helped her to stay young, young in heart- and mind. Let THAT be a lesson to us all! Young people have so much to give - if you are willing to share your love with them. I have read and heard of many towns where they have not only "Big Brother and Sister" programs but "Adopt a Grandparent" schemes too - and they work out beautifully for everyone. With all her crafts, she says she is still doing "spr- ing housecleaning so it will be ready to leave this winter". This is the problem with two houses - you are always doing the "Spring housecleaning" - an endless job! With all the lovely things she makes, she added - "Maybe sometime I'll make something for myself ! " Monday morning and I've been up since before six. The dawn is -much later this mor- ning, but I think we have missed a bad storm. I heard only two or three rumblings but I know the Fall is being shoved in without any nice in between weather. We may get some Indian Summer later. All the winter predic- tions are scary. Threaten- ing! I hope the "Livery" building will be ready for this winter's Little Theatre , projects. It is going to be wonderful to have such a great theatre as well as a meeting hall that can be enlarged in a couple of hours to a 'Convention Hall' size. There has been such a lot of work poured into this building by a great many dedicated people that it can- not help but be a wonderful addition to our area. Someday I hope to see the whole SQUARE taken up with boutiques and speciali- ty shops. It is looking good right now - now that the Peo- ple's Store has been revived. The building blends in nicely with the general theme of fine old buildings. This has been "Legion Week". If you have missed the first three days, you can probably get in on the last few - have FUN! A date for your calendar is October 19, when the hot turkey supper will be held at the Nile United Church. Also October 19 is the big 18th an- nual Christmas Fair at Saltford Valley Hall. See you. Love, Martha., 1.0 a after we trim around the neck and to complete the outfit., a mulberry crystalette hat. She Carried a nosegay of pink wild roses, stephanotis, Ouch of burgundy and baby's breath. Bridesmaids were Judi Torrance of London and San- dy Dickson of Port Albert, both friends of the bride and Donna Maize of St. Augustine, sister of the groom. They were gowned identically to the maid of honour and carried the same flowers. Junior bridesmaid was Kathy Rodger, cousin of the bride. She was gowned similarly in mulberry c°rystalette and carried a small bouquet identical to the bridesmaids. Groomsman was Paul Doherty of Port Albert, cousin of the groom. Guests were ushered into the church by Paul Helesic of Lindsay, brother of the bride, Ron Maize of Dungan- non, brother of the groom, and Bob Westlake of Goderich, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Christopher Maize, brother of the groom. The groom and ringbearer were attired identically in champagne Claridge tux- edos with ivory squire shirts. The attendants also wore champagne Claridge tux- edos with ivory squire shirts and cummerbunds. Following the wedding, a lovely social time was held at the home of the bride's parents. Pink impatiens and pink and wine petunias accented the landscaping for this special occasion. APPLIANCE REPAIR Large or small, we'll fix them all....
