The dogpoisoner has been
at his diabolical,work again,
two dogs, one belonging to
County Clerk Lane and one
to Oswald Sturdy, ' being
poisoned this week.
A large gang of men are,
putting in a turn table just
outside the GTR round house
and when the job is com-
plete, two engines can run on
the line and be turned at the
smile time, thus effecting a
great saving in time and
expense.
The '.fire department was
called "out Tuesday evening
by a blaze in the grass along
the bank near the GTR track
which threatened to set the
wooden bridge on fire, but
when the men arrived, the
fire had been suppressed
with very little damage.
The moving picture show
at Victoria Opera Rouge
continues to -meet with public
favor, there being good
audiences each evening.
The harbor lumber mill
got up steam on Monday to
cut the !ogs left over when
the machinery stopped
running in June. The running
of the mill revives the rumor
of its possible sale to the
West Shore Rail Road
Company.
The north breakwater has
been repaired and steps have
been put at the west end so
that people can get to and
from the harbor island.
Town council has agreed to
spend up to $100 to prepare
for the forthcoming visit of
the Governor-General, Lord
Bessborough, though some
councillors thought $50
would be enough.
Huron Commercial
Academy has opened in
Goderich with an enrolment
of 12 pupils. The Reverend
Donald McLeod is principal.
Fire of unknown origin has
destroyed the Karn on the
farm of George Irwin of
Dungannon.

Windsor has been appointed
organist 'and' cholemaster'Of "" '

Judgment was reserved by
the Goderich Police Com-
mission after it heard legal
argument yesterday af-
ternoon on charges against
suspended Police Chief F.M.
( Monty) Hall. The chief's
counsel, Frank Donnelly,
was informed that he would
be notified in writing about
the commission's judgment
as soon as possible.
Nearly 100 airplanes flew
in to Sky Harbor Saturday
from all parts of Ontario for
the annual gathering of the
Ontario division of the
('anadian Owners and Pilots
Association. It was the first
time such a gathering had
been held in Goderich.

staff salary schedule to see if
it needs streamlining.

in Goderich on Tuesday
evening. But it was dead and
is being skinned at Allison's
abbatoir. It was shot by Bill
l.umby of Goderich on a
fishing trip near North Bay.
Goderich town council
decided Monday they want
no part of a proposed federal
government scheme to
change the Pioneers of
Huron Tract plaque with a
new bilingual plaque. The
large Huron Tract plaque is
affixed to one of the stone
pillars on Toronto Street that
serve as an entrance to the
town.
A seasonal layoff of
Dearborn Steel Tubing
workers prompted rumors
that the firm was closing its
Goderich plant but owner
Bob Brown said Wednesday
those rumors are "ab-
solutely untrue".
Despite some rumblings of
discontent, Goderich town
council was forced to delay
passing of a bylaw to permit
the construction of two 18 -
unit apartment buildings on
Suncoast Drive as proposed
by Jack Freeman. Huron
County planner Roman Dzus
said the bylaw was im-
properly prepared and
technically incorrect.
Architect Nick Hill
presented plans to council
Monday night that call for
revamping the town building
at a cost of $116,545, to ac-
commodate several
municipal departments in a
central location.
