(photo courtesy of Rena Watt. • Threshing was dangerous work Clinton New Era 1883 On d�o llaas't a par- ticularly sad accident happened to a young man name John White, who resides on the 10th con- cession of Hallett Township which was very serious in its nature, and the ultimate result of which is yet a matter of doubt. He and a companion were driving a steam engine along the boundary between McKillop and Hallett, and in order to aid the team in turning the corner he got down off the seat and took the horse by the head. After they had turned all right and while they were • still slowly walking kingalong, he attempted bainto his seat, when his foot slipped and he fell beneath the ponderous wheels, which passed over his leg and arm. Mr. John Mason, reeve, who, with a couple of otthers, was dose by, at once picked him up and found that both leg and ann has been badly splintered. He was at once taken to a house, medical assitance called in and his wounds dressed. It is feared that it may be necessary to am- putate his arm owing to the nature of the injuries sustained.
