Robon original watercolors,
to be exhibited at Benmiller
On September 23, 24 and
25, Studio Sparta and the
Benmiller Inn will present a
one-man show of Peter
Hobson original watercolors
at the Benmiller Inn.
The entire complex of
Benmiller has been sold out
for the show since August 10.
The artist, Peter Robson,
works out of his studio in the
quaint village of Sparta. His
renderings depict the
tranquil beauty of the
Canadian landscape and
wildlife. Twenty of his latest
original works will be
available for sale at the
show.
Robson has been working
as a professional artist only
two short years and his
accomplishments have been
unprecedented as
recognition for his unique

national attention. His art
has not just evolved from the
last two years of his life but
from 43 years of world travel
and five major business
ventures. His love of life and
feelings for the natural
essence of a subject are very
apparent throughout his
paintings.
The show's location at that
Benmiller Inn is very har-
monious with the style of
Robson's paintings.
The Benmiller Inn and
Peter Robson were united
due to the efforts of the late
Peter J. Ivey, who com-
missioned Robson to paint
the village of Benmiller in a
manner in which he had
perceived it. The natural
beauty of Benmiller had
inspired the late Mr. Ivey to

beautiful resorts. The charm
of the area is evident and the
ambience between the Inn
and the surrounding coun-
tryside is captured
beautifully in the. eight
paintings which Robson
created for Mr. Ivey and the
Benmiller Inn.
The show is by private
invitation and ap-
proximately 500 patrons
from across the country are
expected.
On Friday night at 9 p.m.,
a presentation of an original
painting of "The Livery"
will be presented from Peter
Robson to the Goderich Arts
Foundation.
Also at this Friday night
preview, Robson will an-
nounce the dates for the
opening of his Toronto
gallery.

David E. White Clothiers has now expanded into ladies clothing. The type of clothing that is
being sold for the ladies is along the sportswear and career apparel lines. He did not build on
to the shop, but split the store in half to accommodate both the ladies and the men. ( photo by

Jack Hinton (left) congratulates Gord Fisher on becoming the new manager of the A&P
store in Goderich. After 44 years of working for A&P, Jack is retiring and will be pursuing
other interests. (photo by Anne Narejko)
Hinton retires after 44
years service with store
After working for the same company
for 44 years, Jack Hinton is retiring, and
the man he hired 14 years ago to work
part-time, is taking over.
Jack Hinton has been manager of the
Goderich A&P store for over 23 years. He
was also manager of the Owen Sound
store for six months and the Waterloo
store for four months.
Although Hinton is retiring, he plans to
keep active by playing some golf,
working in his darkroom he has in his
basement, as well as doing some wood-
working. The ambitious man even hopes
to find a part-time job.
Taking over as manager on September
1, was Gord, Fisher who was originally
hired by Hinton to work at the store part-
time. This is Fisher's first experience in
the managing field, and he is looking
forward to whatever lies ahead.
David E. White Clothiers is no -longer
strictly a men's clothing store. Two
BUSINESS

weeks ago the store started selling
ladies' clothing, and will constantly build
its inventory.
The clothing that is being sold is not the
usual dress wear that can be found in a
ladies store, _but more along the sports
wear and career apparel lines.
While half of the store will still remain
men's clothing, the other half will contain
quality tailored ladies clothing, ranging ,
from sweaters, shirts, skirts, slacks and
blazers, to trench coats.
According to owner David White, no
other store in Goderich carries the
program of clothing that he has right
now.
Tupperware party held
Here it is the end of the
summer holidays, and on
Tuesday the children here
will be back in school again. I
just wonder how many know
that in Ohio the children
there were back in school on
Thursday, September 1.

On Tuesday Mayme Wilk-
