the bus, or mobile, is
divided into three sections.
The front of the bus shows
the oldest fossils, most of
which are found near
Thunder Bay and are called
stromatolites. They are
microscopic bacteria and
algae. Also at the front is a
map that shows where the
fossils are discovered.
The middle section is
divided into three areas as
well. This section shows the
different time spans that the
ancient forms of animals and
plant rocks were found. The
specimens range from 500-
365 million -years -old.
The rear of the mobile has
specimens from the ice age
as well as a coral display
that reads "the fossils of
tomorrow."
ROM takes the moble

the summer to museums, art
galleries, libraries and
parks. In the spring and fall

Country Fair
It's nearing Christmas
Country Fair time again.
The fair is a great place to
visit whether you give many
Christmas gifts and find it an
ideal place to buy that
special something; or are
looking for new ideas for
yourself ; wanting to stock
up on vegetables, honey and
apples for fall and winter; or
simply enjoy a day's outing.
The dates for the fair this
year are Wednesday,
October 19 from 10 a.m. to 6
p.m,; Saturday, October 22
from 14 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and
Sunday, October 23 from
noon until 6 p.m.
When this fair com-
menced, it was operated by a
group from Colborne
Township who were in-
terested in crafts. It was a
way to bring their crafts and
home baking to the public's
attention.
For the past 17 years, the
fair has met with con-
siderable success, attracting
people from far and wide.
Under the leadership of Mrs.
Wilmer Hardy with a the co-
operation of her husband and
a group of interested people,
much has been done to
improve the fair over the
years and many people have
hnnafittc.,i from it

The time has come
however when the
organization of the fair has
proven too big an un-
dertaking and Mrs. Hardy
and her executive have to
close their books for another
group to carry on. The
executive has decided to give
the balance they had on
hand, totalling $534.13, to the
Intensive Care Unit of
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, Goderich.
It is hoped that many in the
community will benefit from
this splendid gesture.
• fI!his. year's fair is being
sponsored by. the Blue Water
Chapter No. 284, Order of the
Eastern Star, Goderich.
They hope to carry on much
the same and should have an
excellent display again this
year. Every week until the
fair, a craftsman will be
featured in this column.
This week is devoted to
Creative Mirrors, unique
mirrors with a difference by
Doug Chamney of Auburn.
Also on display and for
sale at the fair will be but-
terfly pictures made from
real butterflies, their beauty
preserved and mounted in
decorative settings, by Judy
Fowler of St. Thomas
( Saturday and Sunday only).
%tart thinking of the
Country Fair now. It will be
held in Saltford Valley Hall,
I.2 km. north of Goderich.
