Goderich Pee Wee soccer team suf- fered uffered a 7-0 defeat at Kin- cardine. Stand -outs for Goderich, as they have been all season, were Iasi MacKinnon and Brian Chambers. Larry Lep- pington played well in goal after being switched there from his usual left -half position. Rob Middel and Bill Trebish, the team's main goal scorers this season, were only allowed a few shots on goal by a solid Kincardine defense. Coach Al Fisher's Goderich Mosquitoes reached the final of the Huron Lake mosquitoSoccer Cup tournament at Port Elgin last Saturday, only to lose to Kincardine 5-1. Time Harrison scored the lone Goderich"goal. In games leading up to the final, Goderich beat Port Albert 3-0 and Clinton 5=0. Brian Lane scored two goals against Port ' Eight, with Steve Tzioomis adding a single. Tim Harrison scored three goals against. Clinton, with Richard Bowman and Brian Lane scoring singles. In Squirt houseleague action last Wednesday, Raiders consolidated their first place position by defeating Bombers 1-0 in a close, hard fought struggle. Trisha Rumig scored the winning goal with an assist from Jeff. Klages. In the second game Raiders tied with second: lace Giants 1-1. Defensive . place lwart Derek Gilchrist scored for the Raiders and Tanya MacCuspey scored for the Giants, with Murray Hunter picking up an assist on the play. Bowlers enjoy roast The Goderich Lawn Bowling Club enjoyed another fun evening Saturday at their greens on Picton Street, Len and Peg Lumsden organized an all you can eat Weiner roast, with all the trimmings. After everyone ate all they could, two games of bowls were played and winners were Ozzie Falkiner and Harry Williams for the men, and Dorothy Smythe and Goldie Berger for the ladies. One of our newest members Cora Sherwood won the lucky scoreprize. Everyone met after the games in the clubhouse for a surprise dessert, which turned out to be pies with ice cream. Anyone who would like to try this game, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday evenings is welcome. Our next event will be the ladies triples tournament, pot luck, Wednesday starting at 10:30 a.m. on August 31st. 11. (photo by Anne Narejko) Pro -Am Cycling race scheduled for this Sunday The Pro -Am Cycling Race is scheduled for Sunday, August 28 this year and the cyclists are asked to be at the starting line at 11 a.m. The last start will be at 5 p.m. With over $1,000 in prizes and trophies this year, the usual 150 cyclists are expected to show up at Town Hall, where the race will begin. The course will take the contestants from Town Hall on West Street to the square, then down South Street to Elgin Avenue, to Wellington Street and then back to West Street where they will finish. The cyclists will be divided into different categories. There will be five divisions for the amateurs which will divide the participants according to age. For the professionals, they will be divided into categories such as cadets, juniors and ladies, senior three and veterans, and senior one and two. Hully Gully takes show on the road to Maitland On Saturday, August 27 Hully Gully houseleague racing program moves to Maitland Valley Motocross track north of Holmesville between Clinton and Goderich. Once yearly Hully Gully takes a show on the road to the Maitland Valley course and this Saturday is the day. Registration and practise start as usual at 11 a.m. with racing beginning at 2 p.m. The usual entry fee still applies to all riders and spectators will be admitted free. inionTEIA.
