WORKSHOP LEADERS Richard Earle, Ph.D. & Robert Sopo - Stress Management Consultants. I. Coping with Psychological Hazards in the Workplace On completion of this introductory program the participant will: 1. haver gained increased awareness of psychological hazards encountered in the workplace. 2. have learned some effective coping strategies which can be used to alleviate the intensity of psychological hazards encountered in the workplace. 3. be able to apply effective coping strategies to individual work situations. Between a Rock and a Hard Place Pressures for improved and increased work performance, for greater accountability to the public, for cost effectiveness thinking and actions are creating a work environment that is, at times, very difficult for health care personnel to handle. Participants in this advanced one day program will have an opportunity to discuss and to learn some advanced self-management skills that can promote their own and their co-workers safety, productivity and job satisfaction and generally improve the quality of their working life. Other Health Sciences Seminars Continuing Education (Health Sciences) at Conestoga, with the assistance of a number of health associations and agencies, offers a series of educational events in an academic year, ranging from evening or half day workshops to two or three day long seminars. Those events currently being planned include: Emergency Room Nursing High -Risk Neonatal Care Staff Education and Development Community Health Update Hearing - Screening and Conservation in Occupational Health Fall, 1983 Pharmacology Update Winter 1984 All of the above are open to Health Professionals and occasionally to health care consumers.
