The course is 30 hours in length. Offered at: Doon, Goderlch, Guelph, Milverton, Mount Forest, Stratford. SEGMENT 2 is a 60 hour lecture course containing 20 sessions devoted to the theoretical and technical aspects of Real Estate principles and practice. Appli- cants for Segment 2 must have success- fully completed Segment 1. Offered at: Doon, Guelph. SEGMENT 3 is a workshop course consisting of 60 hours in 20 three hour sessions and deals with the practical aspects of the Real Estate Brokerage business. The practical sessions will be built upon the theoretical matters dis- cussed in Segment 2. Applicants for Segment 3 must have successfully completed Segment 2. Offered at: Doon, Guelph. O.R.E.A. ADMINISTRATION FEES: Ad- ministration fees are not included in the tuition fees. The administration fee for each segment will be $20 (certified cheque or money order only) and will be payable to the Ontario Real Estate Association. The tests at the end of each segment requirepass mark of 75%. Students who ddfnot achieve this mark will have one opportunity to rewrite. REFUNDS: In the Real Estate Pre - Registration Prdgram Intensive Courses, each 3 -hour session is deemed to equal one class. Therefore you must request a refund before the seventh hour of classes begins, should you decide to Withdraw from the course. REAL ESTATE CERTIFICATE N. This program is a part of the Ontario Real Estate Association educational program for registered sales people, and leads, ultimately, to real estate broker qualification. Courses may be taken in any sequence. The mandatory 40 hour courses Prin- ciples of Appraisal, Principles of Mort- gage Financing, and Real Property Law are offered at Doon. Candidates must take one of the following 40 hour elective courses which are offered from time to time at Doon. Commercial Real Estate, Indus- trial Real Estate, Principles of Proper- ty Management and Rural Real Estate. Prior to licencing as a broker, there is an additional course requirement set by the Ontario Real Estate Association. REFUNDS: Each 4 hour session is deemed to equal one class. Therefore, you must request a refund before the ninth hour of classes begins, should you decide to withdraw from the course. COURSES FOR REGISTERED NURSES Note: To enrol in any of the following 30 courses, applicants must provide a photocopy of their current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Compe- tence as a Registered Nurse. Recent graduates of nursing programs in the Province of Ontario who have written the last scheduled Canadian National Test- ing Service Examination to quality as a Registered, Nurse are eligible to apply. Recent Conestoga graduates waiting to write the next scheduled examinations are also eligible. Theoretical Concepts Of Coronary Care Nursing A See Note Above. This course deals with the care of patients acutely ill with: cardiac disease, coronary artery dis- ease, acute myocardial infarction and cardiomyopathy. Students will develop plans of care using assigned case studies. The course will lead to a better understanding of: the functioning of the cardiac system, the paraphysiology of coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, the psychological and sociological effects on the individual and the role of the health team. Offered at: Doon, Guelph, Listowel, Seaforth. Theoretical Concepts Of Intravenous Therapy A See Note Above. The main focus of this course is to provide Registered Nurses with a basic theoretical framework for caring for acutely ill patients during intravenous therapy. Topics include: infusion, aseptic technique, blood trans- fusion and blood component therapy, T.P.N., and the I.V. administration of drugs. This is a theoretical course. Practice in the development of skills related to I.V. therapy is not included. Offered at: Clinton, Doon, Wingham. Theoretical Concepts Of Neurological /Neurosurgical Nursing A See Note Above. The main focus of this course is to provide Registered Nurses with a theoretical framework for caring for neurological/neurosurgical patients. Course topics include increased intr;,- cranial pressure, vascular disorders, space occupying lesions, head injuries and nursing assessment. Students will have an opportunity to develop plans of care for patients using assigned case studies. Upon successful completion of the course, students will better understand the physiology of the nervous system; also the disease processes associated with acute and chronic cases. They will also appreciate the role of the health team and be aware of the psychological and sociological effects of neurologi- cal/neurosurgical disease on an individ- ual. Offered at: Doon. Theoretical Concepts Of Renal Nursing A See Note Above. The main focus of this course is to provide Registered Nurses with a theoretical framework for caring for acutely ill patients with renal failure. Topics include uremia, acute and chron- ic renal failure, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplants. Offered at: Guelph. Introduction To Psychiatric Nursing For Registered Nurses A See Note Above. This course will assist the Registered Nurse to: 1) develop a more comprehensive un- derstanding of current psychiatric trends and associated nursing practices. 2) learn how to more effectively inte- grate knowledge of mental health con- cepts with total nursing responsibilities for patient care. This course is primarily designed for Registered Nurses who have not had any previous formal preparation in psychiatric nursing. It is also appropriate for Registered Nurses who wish to update their knowledge in the field of Psychiatric Nursing. Offered at: Guelph. Theoretical Concepts Of Respiratory Nursing A See Note Above. This course is meant to provide Registered Nurses with a theo- retical framework for caring for acutely ill patients with respiratory failure. Topics include obstructive and restric- tive states; acute and chronic respirato- ry failure. Offered at: Guelph. Topics In Geriatrics For Registered Nurses A See Note Above. Topics will include: Gerontology, Sociological and Psycho- logical Implications, Communications, Activation, Reality Orientation, Commu- nity Resources, Grief and the Dying Process. The successful completion of this course will enable the graduate to: Understand the philosophy of geriatric care, relate Maslow's hierarchy of human needs to the elderly individual, be aware of Erikson's theory of personality develop- ment during the elderly adult stage, understand the aging process as it relates to the needs of the elderly, understand some of the sociological and psychological implications of aging, promote activation and reality orienta- tion, know the basic skills used in communicating with the elderly individu- al including specific communication problems, understand the grief process, death and dying. Science IV - Human Biology A Topics include: Cell Structure, Muscle and Bones, Nutrition and the Digestive System, The Endocrine System and Nervous Systems, Circulatory, Respira- tory and Excretory Systems, Reproduc- tion, Drugs and Microbiology. This is a credit course and will be of benefit to persons desiring entry to a diploma nursing program. Offered at: Doon.
