Woodworking For Women S (Students must provide their own safety glasses and ear protection is recom- mended.) This is a course especially for women who would like the opportunity to become familiar with the tools, tech- niques and terminology of woodworking before proceeding to regular Wood- working classes. Participants will have the opportunity to select from a large variety of appealing projects which can be built using mainly hand tools. Some exposure to small power tools will also be provided. ARTS AND CRAFTS Calligraphy S Several styles of lettering will be taught as well as spacing, layout and finishing techniques. Students should be pre- pared to spend $10 on supplies. Canadian System Of Calligraphy S This beginners course is easy to write, easy to read and will be of particular interest to those who wish to learn legible handwriting and calligraphy. This new course was developed by Alf. K. Ebsen and the Handwriters Guild of Toronto and will be taught by a Guild member. Students should be prepared to spend $20 on supplies. Offered at: Cambridge, Guelph, Water- loo. Flower Arranging And Design S A practical course in flower arranging, floral centrepieces, corsages and ar- rangements for special occasions. Advanced Flower Arranging And Design S The prerequisite for this course is Flower Arranging and Design or equivalent. The Advanced course specializes in larger arrangements of fresh flowers, wedding designs and decorator wreaths. An additional charge will be made for flowers and supplies. Offered at: Doon. Christmas Arrangements With Natural Materials S Each student will prepare his/her own decorations for the home or for gifts, including a permanent wreath of nuts, cones, etc., candle arrangements, cen- trepieces and fresh swags. Oil Painting For Beginners S A course designed to introduce the amateur to the fundamentals of painting in terms of techniques, selection of brushes, preparation of canvas and colour co-ordination. The course is a prerequisite for Oil Painting - Advanced. Students provide their own supplies. Offered at: Cambridge, Doon. Oil Painting - Advanced S Prerequisite is Oil Painting for Beginners or the equivalent. The individual artist is allowed to work towards the develop- ment of a preferred personal style. Students provide their own supplies. Offered at: Doon. Introduction To Silk -Screen Printing S Students will be given a grounding in several different methods of silk-screen printing on paper. They will learn to make simple and more complex designs in one, two or three colours which can be used to print personalized Christmas cards, invitations, posters, book -plates or works of art. Offered at: Waterloo. Intermediate Silk -Screen Printing S Prerequisite: Introduction to Silk -Screen Printing. Students will have an opportu- nity to exploit skills gained earlier, to improve accuracy and to create more complex designs. The emphasis in this course will be on artistic values. Additional techniques will be explored. Photographic method is not included. Offered at: Waterloo. Introduction To Silversmithing S Practice the techniques used in fashion- ing a simple piece of jewellery. Topics include: design, forming, heating with a torch, and working the piece. Students pay for materials. Projects include pendants, rings and pins. Offered at: Waterloo. Silk And Dried Flower Arranging S Silk and Dried Flower Arranging includes round, triangular, oval, wicker, broom, Japanese, wicker wail decor, barn board and wedding bouquets.
