Dancercise N Come out and join in the tun of an exercise class with music. The instruc- tor will lead you through routines designed to tone up your body and improve your level of fitness. Offered at: Mount Forest. Fitness Classes S Get a regular physical workout through a combination of muscle -toning and cardiovascular exercises. By working through a routine with the other mem- bers of the class, you will improve your flexibility, strength, breathing capacity and general body composition. Child Care: Child care will be available for those participating in the pro- gramme. A phone call to the Conestoga Centre the morning of the class will ensure that a "sitter" is available. The users of this service will reimburse the "sitter" directly. At the time of registra- tion, please inform the Conestoga Cen- tre of the number of children and their ages. Offered at: Doon. Yoga S Instruction will be given in the WEN,- GAR YEN-GAR method of Hatha Yoga. With particular concern for the healthy main- tenance of the spine, the student will learn various asanas (Positions) to enhance relaxation and personal awareness of mind and body integra- tion. Yoga S This is a course in Hatha Yoga. The course covers breathing; fundamentals of relaxation; several asanas (positions) including the Cobra, the Lotus and the Plough. FAMILY LIFE A Parent's Guide To Learning Difficulties S Offers practical ways to help. We will discuss problems common among learning disabled children and specific activities to improve listening, speaking, looking, movement and social skills. Prenatal Training For Parents - Early Bird N This course is offered in conjunction '.P with Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital as a means of reducing anxiety and increas- ing the self confidence of expectant parents. Participation in this course will be beneficial for the course 'Prenatal Training For Parents - Labour And Deli- very.' The course is designed for attendance by couples and the students will dis- cuss what constitutes a healthy regi- men for pregnancy. Topics covered include fetal growth and development, physical and emotional changes of parents in pregnancy, preliminary exer- cises, comfort measures and nutrition. Offered at: Doon. Prenatal Training For Parents - Labour And Delivery N The College will not insist on Prenatal Training For Parents - Early Bird as a compulsory prerequisite but we urge, strongly, that the course be taken whenever possible. This course is offered in conjunction with Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital and is designed for, attendance by couples. Classes begin in the seventh month of pregnancy and provide, through group participation, the opportunity to learn about pregnancy and birth. Conscious relaxation and the Lamaze method are taught. The method of instruction for this course is shared teaching by a man and a woman. Offered at: Doon. Prenatal Training For Parents - Refresher N Prerequisite: Completion in prior preg- nancy of a prenatal program involving some Lamaze preparation. Applicants not able to meet this prerequisite are advised to enrol in Prenatal - Labour And Delivery. This course is offered in conjunction with Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital and is designed for attendance by couples. Emphasis is placed on relaxation, a thorough review of breathing tech- niques and how to help siblings cope with the arrival of a newborn. Offered at: Doon. Assertiveness Training For Human Service Workers A Assertive behaviours are often con- fused with aggressive behaviours. "As- sertiveness is a complex of behaviours emitted by a person which express feelings, wishes, opinions honestly while respecting the feelings, wishes, opinions of others". By learning how to be more assertive, people can: more appropriately express anger; become more crossculturally effective; become more successful in their job search; accept criticism more effectively; give constructive criticism; be more effective parents; etc. This is a practical skill development course. Role plays, videotapes and modeled simula- tions will be used. It could provide useful tips which would help you in relationships with clients, and also information which you could use to help clients learn to communicate more ef- fectively. Offered at: Doon. S.T.E.P. Program Si The S.T.E.P. program is based on child-rearing methods which encourage mutual respect and equality between parent and child. This course is en- hanced with manuals, charts and cas- sette tapes. Study methods consist of discussion and exercises reflecting common con- cerns of parents. Offered at: Mitchell, Stratford. Separation, Divorce & Beyond S A practical and informative course for those people who share the common experience of separation or divorce. Hospice Care Volunteer Training S This course ,is designed for caring, flexible pedpje interested in working as volunteers with Wellington Hospice, a non-profit, community group. Hospice care centers on the understanding and management of the needs of the dying or terminally ill and the bereaved. Students will be helped to develop their own personal resources for assisting these people through films, lectures, discussion and practical exercises. Be- cause of the nature of the content, it is not intended for people still actively grieving themselves. Offered at: Guelph. Family Budget And Debt Management N This short course will deal with the basic principles necessary when setting up a family budget. Topics include: financial assessment, financial plan- ning, sample budgets, resources, credit and debt management, credit ratings and bankruptcy. Offered at: Stratford. Single Parenting N Through group sharing and new knowl- edge, single parents will be better able to cope with their situations as parents and as individuals. They will learn to handle stress factors involved in being a single parent. The current research on single parenting and its effect on the children and the family will be re- viewed. Offered at: Guelph. Human Development A This course will be of particular interest to anyone working in a Human Service area. Persons who successfully com- plete this course will receive credit if accepted into the College's Social Services Diploma Program.
