this course covers: basic fire policy;
extended coverage endorsement; statu-
tory conditions; co-insurance; mortgage
clause; inland marine; multi -peril covers;

licies.

Insurance On Property - Part II
(General)

Prerequisites: (1) Principles and Prac-
tice of Insurance. (2) Insurance on
Property - Part I.
The key items for this course are:
Business fire coverage: extended cover-
age endorsements E.C.K.L.J.; rating;
fundamental principles and purposes of
underwriting; practice of underwriting;
mercantile coverages and commercial
coverages designed for specific pur-
poses; bailee's policies; condominiums;
real property insurance.

Insurance Against Crime
(General) S
Prerequisite: Principles and Practice of
Insurance.
Includes definitions, policy conditions,
robbery insurance, burglary policies,
money and securities policies, fidelity,
forgery, comprehensive dishonesty, dis-
appearance and destruction.

LAW CLERK COURSES
The following courses are offered jointly
by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario
and Conestoga College. Certification will
be granted by the Institute upon suc-
cessful completion of the complete
package and compliance with rules and
regulations of the Institute. You do not
have to be employed in the field to take
these courses or write the examinations.
However, you will not attain status until
you have been in qualifying employment
for six consecutive months.
These courses were developed by the
Institute in consultation with the Law
Society of Upper Canada and members
of the profession.
The course start dates have been
established in order to complete prior to
the Institute examination dates.
Examination Procedures
There is an additional fee to write the
examinations which will be collected at a
later date.
Examinations are two hours in length
and written on a Tuesday evening. All
papers are reviewed by the examiner
and his/her decision is final. The
Institute will not enter into correspond-
ence or discussions with students in
respect to marks awarded.
An additional fee of $40 is required
should the student wish a copy of their
marked examination paper. A grade
report will be issued to each student, by
mad, from the Institute approximately
eight weeks later.
The following courses will be offered this
Fall and Winter to complete two weeks
before the province -wide examinations:
Corporate Law Procedures (14 weeks),
Real Estate Procedures (16 weeks),
Estate Procedures (14 weeks) and
Litigation Procedures (22 weeks).
Corporate Law Procedures S
Since we anticipate a heavy response,
candidates are strongly urged to register
now and pay fees. Topics include:
Ontario Acts, Incorporation, Procedures
on Application or Filing, Organizational
check list, Shares, Directors & Officers,
..Shareholders & Returns, Articles of
Amendment, Amalgamation, Dissolution
etc.

Estates Procedures S
The preparation of wills, estate planning
and the processing of the estate upon
the death of a client will be covered. The
work would include: ascertaining details
of the assets and liabilities of the
deceased, preparation of the various
forms for the Surrogate Court and the
Provincial and Federal authorities to
obtain Probate or Letters of Administra-
tion, attending to the administration and
distribution of the estate, the preparation
of accounts, etc. In this field it would be
necessary to be conversant with the
laws relating to Wills, Trusts, Taxation,
Estates and the procedures of the
appropriate Courts and Revenue author-
ities.

Litigation Procedures S
Before any criminal, tortious or contrac-
tual matters reach trial in Court, the Law
Clerk may be faced with a wide variety of
duties including interviewing the client
and witness, investigations, preparation
of pleadings and briefs, in addition to
preparation for and assisting at the trial
itself.

Real Estate Procedures S
Real Estate concerns the purchase,
sale, leasing and mortgaging of land and
buildings and one would be involved with
the preparation and approval of the
contract between the Vendor and Pur-
chaser, the investigation of title, the
preparation and completion of the deeds
and documents, details of the financing,
closing of transaction and accounting to
the client. It would require knowledge of
all aspects of the law relating to Real
Estate including familiarization with the
applicable statutes and regulations.

ENERGY ALTERNATIVES
Energy Conservation And You S
This course is designed for anyone who

is interested in the conce ,of energy
and its conservation as it applies to
homes and small business places.
Students will be introduced to the
principles of heat loss and gains and
will learn the methods used- in calculat-
ing these gains and losses. The various
methods used to reduce these losses
will be discussed as well as the various
methods used for heating and cooling,
including heat pumps and active and
passive solar systems.

Alternative Energy Design And
Construction S
The course is an introduction to alter-
native energy design and construction
and will be of interest to the person
who plans to build an alternative en-
ergy home in the near future, to the
dreamer who hopes to build one some-
day, and to the homeowner who would
like to improve the energy efficiency of
a conventional house.
Conventional housing and traditional
construction techniques are energy in-
efficient. Some of the areas of energy
waste include: basic design and loca-
tion of houses, insulation and ventila-
tion approaches, heating and cooling
systems, electricity use, and waste
disposal. This course will consider the
nature of the energy inefficiency in
each of these areas and will present a
variety of energy saving options. These
alternative energy possibilities will in-
clude: earth -sheltered and underground
housing recycling systems, wind gener-
ators, photovoltaic cells, heat pumps,
efficient woodstoves, among others.

TECHNICAL
ca Blueprint Reading A
No experience reading blueprints is
required. People who do read blueprints
could attend this as a refresher course.
Topics include: the history of drafting,
types of projections, Iinework, dimen-
sions, and sketching. Actual shop
drawings will be used as well as text-
books.

Blueprint Reading For Welders A
A course covering the basics of blueprint
reading as it relates to welding. The
course will be of interest to welders,
welder -fitters who wish to become more
proficient at blueprint reading, as well as
persons involved in the inspection and
testing of weldments.

Blueprint Reading (Architectural
And Structural) And Construction
Estimating A
The student will learn how to read
blueprints and will be given a brief
introduction to construction estimating.
Emphasis is placed on accurate analysis
of working drawings for commercial and
industrial structures. The course pro-
vides a comprehensive interpretation of
