Leonard Scott Jenkins, son of Leonard and Elms Jenkins
of Goderich, and Kathleen Peggy Blanche Sheardown,
daughter of Harold and Rosalie Sheardown of Goderich,
were married in St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich
by the Reverend Robert J. Crocker on June 25. Matron of
honor was Karen Tyndall (of Holmesville, sister of the
bride. Bridesmaids were Penny Bricker of Goderich,
sister of the bride and Tami Wilson and Susan Bushell,
both of Goderich, friends of the bride. Flowergirl was
Stacy Bricker of Goderich, niece of the bride. Groomsman
was John Bird of Goderich, friend of the groom. Guests
were ushered into the church by Mark Jenkins of
Goderich, brother of the groom, Wayne Sheardown of
Goderich, brother of the bride and Brian Argyle of
Goderich, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Mark
Sheardown of Goderich, nephew of the bride. Following
the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at Saltford
Valley Hall. After a wedding trip to the Pocono Mountains
in Pennsylvania, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Scott Jenkins took
up residence at 146 Elizabeth Street, Goderich. (Photo by

Mr. and Mrs. Steven Francis Graham
Steven Francis Graham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Graham of R.R. 2 Clinton, and Shirlee Ann Robinson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Robinson of Goderich, were
married in North Street United Church by the Reverend
Robert Ball on July 2. Maid of honor was Margaret
Schoemaker of Goderich and bridesmaid was Vicki
Munroe, also of Goderich. Groomsman was Paul Wet-
tlaer of R.R. 2, Clinton. Guests were ushered into the
church by Gary Oke of R.R. 2 Goderich. Following the
wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the White
Carnation in Holmesville. After a wedding trip to Toronto,

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lorne Farrish
Dale Lorne Farrish, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Farrish
of R.R. 3 Lucknow, and Betty Maria Knoop, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Knoop of R.R. 3 Goderich, were
married in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church,
Kingsbridge by the Reverend Father Edward Dentinger
on July 22. Maid of honor was Marian Knoop of R.R. 3
Goderich, sister of the bride. Flowergirl was Jolene
Shelton of R.R. 2 Kincardine, niece of the groom.
Groomsman was Kevin Swan of R.R. 3 Lucknow, friend of
the groom. Ringbearer was Jacob Knoop. of R.R. 2
Ilderton, nephew of the bride. Following the wedding
ceremony, a reception was held in Lucknow Community

Mrs. Elva : 'Straughan
celebrated her 93rd birthday
last Saturday. Many
neighbours and friends cal! -
ed to congratulate her and
out-of-town guests were Mrs.
Sheila Lewandowski and
daughter Sarah of Sarnia,
Mrs. Martha Bieck of Kit-
chener, Mrs, Bonnie Armour
and Julie of Waterl "a, and
Mr. and Mrs. Donald ", rdin
and Greg of Kitchener.
Mrs. Ethel Ball was
honoured last Friday even-
ing with a barbecue held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Don Pullen (Huron County
Agricultural Represen-
tative), Clinton for the staff
of the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food. Mrs.
Ball is retiring on September
16 after being employed for
211/2 years service with the
Ministry. She was presented
with a gold watch, gold chain
and earrings and a suitably
inscribed gold charm.
Mr. and Mrs. Les Rodger
of Belleville visited last
weekend with his brother,
Emerson Rodger and Mrs.
Rodger and attended the
Maize-Helesic wedding at
Knox Presbyterian. Church,
Goderich, last Saturday.
Albert Killough and
daughter Marguerite of Spr-
ingfield visited last week for
a couple of days with Mrs.
Mary Rollinson and Murray
Rollinson.
Joan Glen and Nathan
Ferguson of Goderich visited
last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Lutz.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Arm-
strong returned last week
from Lion's Head where they
were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Mills at their cottage.
J. K. Young of Mitchell
visited last week one day
with Mrs. Tom Johnston and
Miss Laura Phillips.
Warner Andrews arrived
home last week after visiting
for two weeks in the Cana-
dian West.
A former minister of the
Auburn charge of the United
Church in Canada, the
Reverend Hugh C. Wilson
passed away at the Ritz
Lutheran Villa in Mitchell on
Thursday, August 11 in his
88th year. He is survived by
his wife, Laurel of Mitchell,
daughter Mrs. _ Donald
(Ruth) Deas of Hamilton
and son John Wilson of Ed-
monton, Alberta; grand-
children, Neil and Mary
Deas of High Prairie, Alber-
ta, Dr. Laurel Moore of Mit-
chell, Catherine and Jeffrey
Deas of Hamilton, and
Michael, Craig and Susan
Wilson of Edmonton.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Nicholson of Seaforth, Mrs.
Hugh Bennett of Port Albert
and Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock
attended the funeral of their
cousin, Ross Peter Wilson at
London last Tuesday even-
ing.

week with their father, Ma-
jor Youngblut and also Mrs.

all Huron County books to be
in August -20.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haines,
Rachel and David of
Niagara 'Falls visited a few
days last week with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Haines.
The Walkerburn Club
president has announced
that there will be no August
meeting this year. The next
meeting will be on
September 27 at the home of
Mrs. Stewart Ball in the
Maitland Block, Hullett

Mr. and Mrs. Tom .Haggitt
attended a wedding recep-
tion for their grandson ,
Michael and his new wife,
Linda at Zurich at the home
of the groom's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. George Haggitt
last Saturday. Over 50 guests
were present and a dinner
was served to the guests by
the groom's mother.
The community is pleased
to report that Joe Postill
returned home last week
after being a patient in
University Hospital, London.
Mrs. James Glousher and
Mrs. Dave Scott won the
ladies' division of the log
sawing contest at Point
Farm Provincial Park last
Saturday, August 7. Each
received a T-shirt for their
spendid efforts.
Trustees Meet
The August meeting of the
Auburn Trustee Board was
held last Saturday evening
at 7 p.m. with the chairman
Warner Andrews in charge.
The minutes were approved
as read by Mrs. Ross Dobie.
The sidewalks were
reported completed and also
the roof on the library and
town hall.
Trustee James Schneider
reported on the meeting with
the Blyth and District Fire
Area Board and stated that
the new fire truck would be
arriving soon. The trustees
voted to renew the five year
contract and carry on the
same as formerly.
A report that flowers have
been pulled out of the flower
boxes at the hall was
discussed and also it was
reported that stones were
thrown at the plastic flower
baskets on the street. It is
hoped that the children will
stop or the board will have
to enforce stricter rules,
Trustee Eleanor Bradnock
reported on the Auburn,
Michigan visit and read the
thankyou letter received
from the American friends.
She displayed a plate of
Auburn, Michigan which will
be hung in the town hall.
Horticultural Society
The executive of the
Auburn Horticultural Socie-
ty met last Tuesday morning
to plan for the fall meetings
at the home of the president,
Mrs. James Schneider. She
welcomed all and served cof-
fee.
The minutes were ac-
cepted as read by the
secretary, Mrs. Tom Hag-
gitt. The treasurer, Mrs.
Ross Robinson give the
financial statement. Letters
were read by Mrs. Haggitt
announcing flower shows at
Blyth on August 18, Clinton
on August 19 and Lucknow
on August 10.
An invitation was received
to attend the Seaforth Hor-
ticultural Society on
September 14 in the Seaforth
Public School at 7:30 p.m.
The guest speakers will be
Florence and Gordon Brown
of Harley. They are lily
specialists and will speak
about their lilies.
A book showing new
varieties of irises was pass-
ed around for the executive
to see and also a letter in
regards to the C.N.E. on
August 18 was read.
It is hoped that former
members will renew their
memberships and the Socie-
ty is always pleased to
welcome new members.
The next meeting is plann-
ed for September 12 at 8 p.m.
in the Auburn Conununity
Memorial Hall. It is hoped
that the new director for
District 8, Clarence Lainge
of Chesley, will be the guest
speaker. Mrs. Dorothy
Grange and Mrs. Eleanor
Bradnock will be in charge
of the program and the lunch
committee will be Mrs.
Donald Cartwright, Mrs.
Kenneth McDougall, Mrs.
Donald Haines and Mrs.
Frank Raithby. Everyone is
asked to bring a flower ar-
rangement or potted
houseplant for the display.
There will be door prizes and
the roll call is to be answered
by giving hints and ways
that bulbs and plants can be
stored for the winter. An in-
vitation will be sent to the
Goderich Garden Club for
their members to join with
the Auburn society at their
September meeting.

The Auburn Presbyterian
Women's Missionary Society
met for its August meeting
at the home of Mrs. Eleanor
Bradnock last Wednesday
evening. Mrs. Bradnock
welcomed all and gave the
call to Worship, "The task
seems quite impossible",
and the hymn, "From
Greenland's Icy Mountains"
was read in unison.
The devotional period was
taken by Mrs. Lillian
Letherland and she had the
scripture lesson. Her
meditation "Stand Still" told
the Bible story of the.
Children of Israel crossing
the Red Sea, followed by
prayer. The roll call was
answered by a Bible verse
containing the word - `Still'.
The offering was received
by Mrs. Frances Clark and
dedicated with prayer.
Mrs. Bradnock showed a
slide presentation from the
office.. at Don Mills on how_
the WMS supply money is us-
ed in Canada and overseas.
A discussion followed with
all members participating.
The minutes were approv-
ed as read by the secretary
Mrs. Lillian Letherland and
Mrs. Frances Clark, the
treasurer gave the financial
statement. It was decided to
hold the next meeting on
Tuesday, September 1.3 at
the home of Mrs. Lillian
Letherland.
The meeting was closed
with a hymn and all repeated
the mizpeth benediction.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Bradnock, assisted by Mrs.
Frances Clark.

tournament starting Friday,
August 19. This is the

Londesboro vs. Goderich at 5
p.m.; Varna vs. Auburn at
6:45 p.m.; and Goderich vs.
Holmesville at 8:30 p.m.
