HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1983-08-17, Page 7Mat Mr. and Mrs. Dale Duncan , Dale Duncan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Duncan of Saltford, and Debbie rennan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sudyk of Goderich, were married in St. George'S Anglican Church, Goderich by the Reverend Robert J. Crocker on July 2. The bride was given away by her grandfather, Dennis Brennan. Maid of honor was Cathy Sudyk of London, a friend of the bride and groom. Bridesmaids were Jana Dam of Goderich, friend of the bride and groom, Vicki Sudyk of Goderich, sister of the bride, Debbie Duncan of Saltford, sister-in-law of the groom and Wanda Moran of Seaforth, sister of the groom. Flowergirl was Krystina Moran of Seaforth, niece of the groom. Groomsman was Dan Duncan of Saltford, brother of the groom. Guests were ushered into the church by Tom Vance and Carl Sudyk, both of Goderich, John Sudyk of R.R. 6 Goderich and David Duncan of Saltford. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in Saltford. After a wedding trip to Manitoulin Island, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Duncan took up residence at 300 Huron Road, Goderich. Maid of honor was Nathalie Meurs of Ripley, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Alice Sikma of Kincardine, friend of the bride and Henrietta Snieder of Clinton, sister of the groom. Groomsman was Larry Livingstone of Clinton, friend of the groom. Guests were ushered into the church by John Primeau of Goderich, friend of the groom and Jack Meurs of Ripley, brother of the bride. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Goderich Legion Hall. Maid of honor was Lode Alexander of Clinton. Bridesmaids were Diane Van Loon of Edmonton, Mary Wilson of London and Carol Lavis of Clinton. Flowergirl was Sherri Lavis of Clinton. Groomsman was Ken Shelton of King City, Ontario. Guests were ushered into the church by Paul Gibson, Allan Watson and Larry Hawkins, all of Goderich. Jason Powers of London was a junior usher. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Goderich Township Community Centre. The to of the meeting was "Showing and Preparing Your Calf for the Fair." The meeting opened with the pledge and 14 members answered the roll Ball. Perry Van Osch then turned the meeting over of the beef leaders, Ian Hackett and Ross Eedy. They showed beef members how to clip, groom and shot, a beef calf. Bob McNeil next showed how to clip and' show a dairy heifer. Chester Hackett then took members through his barn. Afterwards they returned to the house and sblit into two groups—beef and dairy—to do their lessons. At the evening meal, the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrish of Listowel was celebrated with a special anniversary cake. The actual date of Mr. and Mrs. Farrish's anniversary is September 30. The brother and sisters presented them with a beautiful plaque of a cross and 50 diamonds ac centing the congratulatory wording. Those present for the celebrations were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrish of Listowel, Mrs. Mary Grigg of Clinton, Mrs. Gladys Good of Goderich, Mrs. Myrtle Stirling of Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Good of Colborne and Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Craig of Colborne, sisters and brother. , SocialNews Mrs. Ann Smith of Meneset Pares has had a,very busy but enjoyable two weeks with her son, Ken and his girlfriend Elizabeth of Toronto who have been visiting with her and helping to entertain their special guests, Mrs. Ada Bell of Hull, England and Mrs. Susan Kendall of Yorkshire, England. During the visit, they showed their guests Niagara Falls, Buffalo, New York and many other special places. They went on shopping tours and attended the Blyth Theatre also. The guests from England really loved Canada and the hospitality shown them. They left Tuesday, August 16 to return to England. Mrs. Vanderlinde of Colborne has returned home from a three week visit with her parents, relatives and friends in Holland. She en- joyed the visit and was glad to find tlrathet parents are in fair health. Mrs and Mrs, Horace Crawford are the proud grandparents of a second granddaughter. The proud` parents are Ralph and Dianne (Crawford) Wood. Mr. and Mrs. John Buchanan have returned home from a week's business trip to Vancouver. Sincere sympathy to Marie and Dick Buchanan in the sudden passing of Marie's younger sister, Mrs. Helen Labrie of Sherbrooke, Quebec. Mrs. Buchanan and her son John motored to Quebec to attend the funeral. Sincere sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Harrison of Saltford in the loss of Mrs. Harrison's sister, Mss. Griffith. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison are not enjoying the best of health and their many friends think of them and wish them improved health. Kay, Kim and Richard Edward returned home Sunday from a holiday at Camp Menesetung. Mrs. Marguerite Horton of Goderich, formerly of Colborne, has not been era= joying the best of health and while she is not hospitalized, her many friends wish her improved health. Congratulations to Bud and Ruth Jerry of Colborne on their retirement after 37 years in business. Sincere sympathy to the family and relatives of the late William Snyder. Softball Colborne midget boys beat I the Stanley midgetteam 12-7 on August 5 at Benmiller. They also beat the Goderich midget team 14-12 on August 10 at Benmiller. There will be a tournament at Londesboro for the midget boys and Colborne will play at 10:30 a.m. Saturday mThessee boys will be playing their last game tonight, Wednesday, August 17 at Benmiller at 9 p.m. Come out and cheer for them. Their coach Is Bob Jewell. The Colborne peewee boys' team defeated the Lon- desboro no. 1 team 28-3 at Benmiller on Monday, August 15.
