Monday July 3/Z was a
perfect steer evening for
Men's Night, with 48 men
competing for the prizes.
Dave Cornish was in first
place with even par gross
round. Ed Brissette and
Gerald Morgan were second.
In third place was Art
Mountford.
Other winners were Jeff
Haman, Jim Baird, Jack
Gould, Del Bedard, John
Kane, Murray McGill, Doug
Hesk, Guy Kelly, Paul
Murphy, Gerd Harrison,
Ralph Neville, John
Alexander, Ken Hall, Bill
Brown and Mike Collins.
The winners for the least
number of putts were Paul
Murphy, Dave Cornish, Bill
Lurnby and John Alexander.
The closest to the pin on
number 1 was Doug Hesk.
The closest to the pin on
number 5 was Scott Collins.
On Ladies's Night, a game
in the CLGA book was
played, it was called Bingo
Bango Bongo. ' Prizes were
given to those first on the
green, closest to the hole and
first in the hole. The prizes
were donated by Carlsberg.
The first place winner was
Doris Paquette, second was
Ardith Brissette, third was
Joyce Shack, and fourth was
Bud Lumby. Verna Kane
won the first low gross prize
in the first flight. Gerry
Mountford won the low net
prize.
In the second flight, Joan
McDougall won the low gross
prize and Grace Neville the
low net place.
Chris Hoffmeyer in the
third flight won the low gross
prize, and Rosemarie won
the prize for low net. Lois
McGill won the low gross and
low net was won by Kay
Blacker in the fourth flight.
Verna Kane did very well
at the Lathe's Ontario
Tournament in Dundas,
where Verna shot to her
handicap.
Children
invited
to game
This week and next week,
the Recreation Department
has some very interesting
activities planned as part of
its Summer Special Events
program.
On the morning of
Thursday, August 4 a trip to
the police station is planned.
Children who would like to
learn about the life of a
policeman should meet at
Jpdith Gooderham Park at '
9:30. The event is free.
On Thursday afternoon a
bike rodeo will be held at the
Arena parking lot. Children
of all ages are invited to test
their driving skills on an
obstacle course as well as
find out if their bike is safe to
drive. The rodeo starts at
1:30 p. m.
On Friday, August 5 at
Judith Gooderham Park, 9
a.m. children can get their
faces painted like a clown.
Then in the afternoon star-
ting at 1:30 p.m. kids are in-
vited to paint and draw in the
park.
A utensil dinner will take
place at Judith Gooderham
Park on Monday, August 8.
The meal will be supplied
and all that is required is for
children to bring the
strangest utensil they can
find. Before meal games will
take place at 10 a.m. and the
meal will be served at 12
noon.
The cost for the dinner is
$1 and pre -registration
should be completed at the
Recreation office.
Also on Monday a soccer
game has been organized at
Victoria School at 1:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, August 9
mini-olympics will take
place 'at the G.D.C.I. track
from 9 12 noon for those
eight years and younger and
1:30- 4 p. m. for children nine
and older.
Two events have been
planned for Wednesday,
August 10. In the morning a
film festival will be held in
the Arena Auditorium from 9
- 11 a.m. Admission is 25
cents.
In the afternoon the Jab-
berwocky Theatre troupe
will perform at Victoria
School, 2 p.m. The troupe
combines dance, storytell-
ing, music, mime amd pup-
petry to create the magical
blend of "full theatre". Ad-
mission is $2.,
