,Geoff , who Pet recent-
ly graduated from Neuchatel
College, Switzerland, had
many of his classmates
spend the weekend at the
Latin cottage in Port Albert.
Saturday:morning while in
Goderich,. I had an occasion
to speak to a gentleman driv-
ing a car with- an Arizona
Licence plate and learned
that he was C:L. Mullanax
from Green Valley, Arizona,
which Is 21 miles south of
Tuscon. Born in
Parkersburg, West Virginia,
and, a resident there when
war broke out, he trained as
a pilot. In 1940 he enlisted in
the Canadian Air Force and
trained pilots at Sky Har-
bour for one and a half
years. He continued in Tren-
ton, Picton, Clareshohn,
Alberta, and Moncton, N.B.
He left Canada, joined the
U.S. Air Force and on his
last assignment, he flew the
Hump India to China in the.
roughest weather he ever en-
countered in his flying ex-
perience. While in Goderich,
he visited with the Becker
family and also went to
Toronto to see his new
granddaughter before retur-
ning home.

welding shop recently sold
by Fred Schmid.

Mrs. Gertrude Park en-

Brian Petrie from Port
Albeit has recently joined
the C.K.O. Radio sales staff.
He will be reporting to Frank
Gardiner who is a summer
resident of the village. Mr.
Gardiner is sales manager of
the Toronto -London -area for
C.K.O. The Gardiners' home
is in Toronto.
Saturday night was `Fun
Night' as 200 residents sat in
their deck chairs and listen-
ed to the music of "Whiskey
Jack" from Exeter.
Freeman .McGill, long-time
summer resident of the
village,. has organized this
annual event for several
years. Skies were overcast,
but it was a most enjoyable
evening to be outside. With a
wooden floor placed on the
sand, dancing was enjoyed
until 1:30 a.m.
Nancy Corkum and fami-
ly, Rob and Tricia spent a
risomn`s vacation in Nova
Scotia recently. Steve Cor-
kum is employed with Alton
Power, Lingan, Nova Scotia.
The Corkums are former
residents 'of Nova Scotia.
- While in Nova Scotia, Nancy
was able to spend some time
with her mother, Freda Otto
of Dartmouth and her two
sisters, Heather Otto and
Barbara Coles, also of Dart-
mouth. Nancy and family
travelled extensively while
in the province and were
favoured with good weather.
Steve returned to Port
Albert with his family and in
a few days he will return to
Lingan.

Sunday morning in Port
Albert. Two permanent
residents of the village, Ray
Shantz and Stan Doherty,
were the winners, each one
receiving a rather unique

Slowpitch
The Dungannon slowpitch
tournament was held this
weekend. On Friday, the
Port Albert Pirates beat
Lanes 6-5. On Saturday, Port
Albert Bulldogs edged the
Port Albert Pirates 6 - 5. On
Sunday, in a hard-fought
contest with Kingsbridge in
12 innings, the Pirates were
edged 6-5.
In the finals, Brantford
were the winners, beating
the powerful Kingsbridge
team 6-5.
