Kincardine man wins Goderich 10 km race This past Saturday a Kincardine native proved that age has no barrier when it comes to road racing. Forty-one year-old Ken Inglis demonstrated the point when he raced approximately 120 runners in the 5th annual Goderich 10 Km Fun Run and Road Race, and won. Inglis completed the course in a time of 30 minutes and 38 seconds. Bud Willis of Sarnia, who won the Men's Open class, was right behind Inglis with a time of 31:54. Describing the race afterwards Inglis said, "He (Willis) was right with me until after the first water station then I started taking the lead. He ( Willis) really gave me a good race. He's a good runner." Since Inglis was registered as a Master (those 40 years -old and over) he placed first in the category. Finishing second in the Master's class was Glen Norcliffe of Kincardine with a time of 34:17 and finishing third was Dave Monteith of London. Monteith's time was 35:17. Besides Willis those placing in the Men's Open class were Martin Dixon of Brant- ford, 31:56; and Stephen Walker of Sarnia, 32:16. "I think the fact that it wasn't really hot out helped the racers. They also had a lot of help from residents who voluntarily set up water stations," Netzke explains. She adds, "Organizers had help from the Circle City CB Club and that was much appreciated." An added feature to this year's race was the installation of a large clock which was rented from the'Waterloo Track and Field Club. The clock, which was situated at the finish line, allowed runners, spectators and organizers to easily see the par- ticipant's times.
