Ln the first game Bombers defeated Giants,' 3.0, with Drew Macaulay scoring all three goals.: In The second game Bombers Beat Raiders, 3-1, Drew Macaulay, Dave Boyce, and Brett Daer scored singles, and Derek Gilchrist replied with Raiders only goal. Goderich resident wins race A sweltering day seemed the appropriate time for blistering racing at Hully Gully's Houseleague Moto cross races last Saturday. Hully Gully's races brought gout riders from all over Ali' nta in— as—fail as Burl- ington, ington, Hamilton, Chatham, Sarnia, Woodstock and Lon- don. Local riders, were well represented as well. Various classes par- ticipated the Little "Mini - Diggers" right up to the Old- timers class. Something relatively new was the Beginner's Cla , a special class open to piople who have never raced before or have raced very lit- tle. ittle. The beginner's class only requires a "dirt -type" motorcycle, and the necessary pr otec'13ve . gear like helmet, gloves, boots and eye protection. The only other requirement is a sense of adventure. Even the beginners' class has it's Share of excitement ' for the spectator, and the beginner racers will tell you it has more than its share for them. Willvan Duke wins By Yvette Richard The Merchants' Pace was the featured event at the Goderich Raceway on Thursday, July 14, with a purse of $2,000. Willvan Duke, owned by C.E. Clarke of Elmira, was the winner of the Merchants' Pace in 2:02.3 with Jack Radcliffe the driver. The Goderich Vet Clinic presented a blanket to the winner of the first race, Yvonnes Jeff, owned by Newton Hayter of Parkhill and driven by Fred Sadler in 2:08.2. Sunrise Bingo, owned by Doug Kerr of Dungannon and driven by Randy McLean, finished third while Arrochar Ruth, owned by Arnold Doak of Goderich, finished sixth with Randy Henry driving. O'Brien's Meats presented a blanket to Skips Challenge, winner of the second race in 2:11:3. Ross Battin drove for owner Burnham Carlyle of London.
