Since the weather has been hot and lovely, the course has been used a great deal by our summer guests and members. Roy Hilton placed first on men's night, Monday, July 11. John Stringer came in se- condand Bill Bradley placed third. Other winners during the evening were Randy HueilL Bob Sproule. Russ Gemmill, Rob Jeffrey, Jeff Harrison, Dave Cornish, Bob Shrier, Bill Hanly, Bill Ross, Don MacEwan, Jack Hinton and Jim Baird. Steve Durst was closest to the pin. On Tuesday, July 12, 29 ladies golfed in a two -ball match. The first place win- ners were Mary Lapaine and Shelagb Sully. Gerry Mount- ford and Jean Hanly came in second. In third place were Edna Looker and Doris Pa- quette. Rosemarie Evans and Maxine Martin came in fourth. The Annual Ladies' On- tario Amateur Golf Tourna- ment is being played at the Dundas Valley Golf Club, Ju- ly 18-21. Four represen- tatives from the Owen Sound District" will attend this event. Verna Kane is representing the Maitland. The first day of the event is a practise round. On the se- cond and third day, the teams compete from all the districts. Wednesday is the cut-off day. Thursday is the final---e-ornpetitive_ _day, _ and__ the winners will be announc- ed. All the best Verna. A good group teed off on Sunday, July 17 for the couples two -ball event. The first place winners were Q. Egener and Joan McDougall; in second place were Fred Looker and Marilyn Cornish; Doris Pa- quette and Bob McDougall placed third and in fourth spot were Edna Looker and Bob Keene. Trip to zoo planned by Rec office This week and next week the Goderich Recreation Department has a number of interesting activities planned for its Summer Special Events Program. On Thursday, July 21 at 9 a.m. children ages eight and under can play mini -golf at Point Farms Market. At 1 'p.m. children ages nine and over can participate. Transportation will be provided from Judith Gooderham Park and the cost is $1.50. A record breaker day will be held on Friday at Judith Gooderham Park from 9 a.m. - 12 noon and 1:30 - 4 p.m. All children are welcome and the event is free of charge. On Monday, July 25 a crafts day will take place at J.G. Park. The times are 9 a.m. - 12 noon for children eight and under and 1:30 - 4 p.m. for those nine and over. A fashion show and pet show are planned for Tuesday at Harbour Park. The fashion show will begin at 10 a.m. and children are asked to bring an old Hallowe'en costume or some of their parents old clothes. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The pet show will begin at 1:30 p.m. and prizes will be awardect for the best dressed pet and (he animal that does the best tricks. A trip to the Toronto Zoo is organized for Wednesday, July 27. A bus will leave Judith Gooderham Park at 7 a.m. sharp and will return by 8 p.m. Pre -registration is imperative as there are only 35 seats available. The cost of the trip is $15 and children must bring a lunch and money for supper. Bridge Club scores Tuesday, July 12, a seven table Mitchell game was played with average score 84. North-South winners were: 1. Verna Worthy and Jean Cook - 109 points, 2. Theresa Donatis and Arlene Gibbons - 90 points, and 3. John Wood and Helen Tench - 87% points; East-West: 1.
