The perfect weather,. the friendships and the delicious pot -luck lunch' all added to make, it a special reunion. Durst or "Aunt, Esther„ as all know her, was the oldest member present and the great grandchild of the late Ezra Durst of Detroit was the youngest member present. Mr. and Mrs. Schneider of Selkirk, Manitoba came the furthest distance (Mrs. Schneider's grandmaq �Ler was Amanda Durst from Selkirk). All of these people, received special gifts. Also present from a distance were Dr. and Mrs. George Caldwell from Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Mrs. CaldWell is the daughter of the late Rose (Durst) Geil); and about 15 members from Detroit. There was also a good representation from other parts of Ontario and Colborne and district. Plans are • for the next reunion to be held in 11 5. Social. News Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kaitting of Colborne and 1141r, and Mrs. Lionel .Arbour of Goderich enjoyed the weekend visiting. John and Gretta (Arbour) McConnell at their summer home on Badgerow Island on Lake Joseph in the Muskoka district. This quiet retreat is accessible only by boat and offered a quiet restful holiday filled with beautiful scenery and nature. Barb and Phillip Marzo and son Nathan of Guelph visited Barb's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Buchanan of Colborne over the weekend and were pleased to see that Mr. Buchanan, who d ger A,. Sports • Please take note that swimming classes • for Colborne children will start next Monday, July 25 and continue to • August 5 at Vanastra. In softball, the Colborne Midget Boys' game with Stanley Township on July 8 was cancelled by the Stanley team. On July 13, Colborne Midget Boys played at Benmiller against Lon- desboro boys with Lon- desboro winning 12-10. The Midgets played again Monday, July 18 at Vanastra, winning 8-1. The Midgets are coached by Bob Jewell. SI$.rwood-T*athley reunion held The twenty-second annual Sherwo,odTwamley reunion was held at the Belgrave Wor<nen's ',Institute Hall on Sunday, Jaly 11. Grace was sung and then everyone enjoyed a bountiful noon lunch. President Myrtle John- stone welcomed everyone and a minute's silence was observed in memory of those who had passed away. New members who had joined the family by birth or marriage were given a special welcome. A sympathy card was sent to Bill and Dianne.Krotz as Bill's twin brother Jim was killed in ,a tragic car ac- cident a few days previously. It was decided not to send invitations to the local family members next year because of the high cost of postage. They will be reminded by word of mouth instead. A genealogical display, to which several contributed, created much interest throughout the afternoon. Lloyd'. Finnigan took pictures of the group. The program, which was convened by Myrtle John- stone and Anne McInnes, started with a sing -song led by Largaret McInnes. This was followed by a humorous reading by Myrtle John- stone. Anne McInnes had a contest which was won by Dianne Henry and Nancy McInnes. Sports, which were organized by Evelyn Henry and David Finnigan, were then enjoyed. The number of jelly beans in 'the jar was guessed by Mildred Henry; Grace Schill named the most articles in a paper bag; and tying the best bow was Anne McInnes. In the egg throw, Dianne Henry and Charles Redhead won; and Jean Le Pine and Michelle Henry won for the water filled balloon throw after which the younger ones enjoyed ducking for apples. Officers for the coming year are: honorary president -Marie Morrison; president -Myrtle Johnstone; vice -president -Marion Johnstone; secretary - treasurer -Anne McInnes; lunch-Largaret McInnes and Karen Webster; sports - Evelyn Henry and David Finnigan; program -Myrtle Johnstone and Anne McInnes; and ice cream - Dan and Anne McInnes. Tyke Mixed Team ost to Vanastra by only one, G.T. Tyke Boys I lost to Goderich I, G.T. Tyke Boys H practiced. Holmesville Stere Men's Slo-pitch won over Auburn. Next game at home July 20 against Londesboro. Mrs. Irene Cudmore has returned after a very en- joyable stay in Ottawa at the home of her son and family. Maid of honor was Joanne McClinchey of Kitchener and bridesmaids were Dianne Hibbert of London and Marie Hibbert and Maureen Knight, both of Goderich. Groomsman was Don Gliders of Calgary, Alberta and ushers were the groom's brothers, Steve, Randy and Robert Little, all of ' Goderich. Following the wedding, a reception was held at Saltford.
