The Talking World Book _ o.` ,� 8 . ��.. set cost $2,000 and was purchased with part of a $21,000 BILD grant from the Ontario government. The rest of themoney was -used -to buy reference books and large print books, Developed by the American Printing House for the blind with a $360,000 grant from the American Department of Education, the Talking World Book set consists of an index in braille and an index in large print; four track tape cassettes running one way; and a tape cassette player .. which is programmed to find any article a person wants in less than a minute. Thousands of articles are included in the 1300 hours on tape and these articles are read by professional announcers for clarity. Susan Bell of Goderich, one of over 100 legally blind persons in the county, first discovered the Talking World Book set while visiting The World's Largest Book Store in Toronto. In older to ensure that all blind patrons in the county have a chance to use the talking set, it will be sent to each town library branch for two weeks according to the following schedule: Goderich--July 12-25; Clinton—Jud 26 -August 8; Exeter --August 9-22; Seaforth--August 23 - September 12; and Wingham--eptember 13-26. Blind patrons will be phoned to attend an open house at each of the bran- ches on the first Thursday of the week that the talking set arrives. After the two week program, the set will be returned to the various branehes on a more per= manent basis for a two month loan. Nylons to give second concert at Playhouse The Nylons, one of the most unique and vigorous groups of entertainers in Canada, have now been booked for a second concert at Huron Country Playhouse August 7. Originally booked for one concert, ticket sales for The Nylons have been so rapid - selling that the show has been sold -out for over a mon th. Finally,, inquiries for tickets have been so numerous that the Playhouse has booked a se- cond concert to be held at 5 p.m. on August 7. Ticket price for this special event is $15 each.
