Uiunt 1-0.
The fought back and tied the
game at la.with Greg Marshall scoring
after converting passes from Wide
Wedlock and Larry Boyce. The lead was
short-lived, however, as United regained
its lead just over a minute later on a goal
by Bellinger. Tina Doherty and Steve
Chase assisted on the play.
United racked up its second win of the
week Thursday with a 4-2 victory over the
Brewers. United built up a 4-0 lead and
then gave up two late goals to the Brewers.
Bellinger again paced the United offence

Elevators sure to capture spat in "A" division
The Goderich Elevators in "A" Division
... Don't be silly! That might have been a
comment 10 weeks ago ... but not now.
With 20 points and still four games to go,
they are bound to capture a spot in the "A"
Division of the playoffs.
The Elevators credit coach Don Elliot
with much of this turn around. He has pro-
vided them with a sound framework within
which they can put their skills to work. Ap-
parently it has worked — just ask Chrysler
or Auto Sales or any of the other eight vic-
tims.
The outfield this year has been played by
John McGuire, Ian Scott, John Machines,
Ray Hallam,Phil Main and Rover Earl
Pennington. Pitchers Clem Desjardins and
Don Elliott have been consistently solid.
Rick MacAuley, Dan Stinson, Darryl
WardBill Desjardins, Brian Stancey; Ron -
finking, Dennis Johnston, Perry Wood
and Mark Fisher adequately fill the in-
field.
Looking at the above list of players, no-
one is intimidated. If you consider their
run production for the season of 151 while
giving up 150, one is not left in awe. Why is
it then that they are in "A" Division?
A good part of the reason can only be ap-
preciated after you have played them.
They have support at their games in the
form of Wives, kids, friends, parents and
I'm sure people they don't even know. This
support constantly keeps the players
pumped up. Perhaps you're right, the
Elevators shouldn't be where they are!
The fact is though, they have good
organization, adequate ball players,
strong support and excellent morale. It's
hard work and teamwork that has this
team where they are.
In league action this week, Local 1863
came up with four points, edging Carlow 4-
2 and blasting Meneset 17-7. Goderich Gas
Rite pounded Garb and Gear 17-7 while the
Bulldogs hammered Tickers 1.2-5.
Canadian Tire can claim fame to the
highest offensive output in one game with
a 40-7 mercy over Bluewater. The recently
Raiders clinch top spot
Two soccer games were
played in the Squirt House
League last Wednesday.
In the first game, the
Bombers upset the Giants 2 -
1. Dave Boyce and Drew
Macaulay scored for the
winners, and Mark Hoy
replied with a single for
Giants.
In the second game, the
Giants tied with the Raiders
2 - 2. Jeff Phelan and Jamie
Redmond tallied for the
Giants, with Dave Lumley
and Jeff Klages replying for
the Raiders.
As a resuleof these games,
coach Linda Lumley's
Raiders have clinched top
spot for the first half of the
League schedule. Bill
Phelan's Giants are in
second position, but can be
overtaken by the Bombers if
Scott Macaulay's Big Blue
Machine win both their
games this week.
