Rec Department has special events This week the Goderich Recreation Department will be hosting the following Summer Special Events: On Thursday, July 7, children age eight and under can make crafts in Judith Gooderham Park from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Prom 1:30 - 4 p.m. children nine and up can join the fun. A Beach Day will be held on Friday, July 8. Children are to meet at Harbour Park at 10 a.m. and should bring a lunch and swim suit. On Monday, July 11 floor hockey will be played at Victoria School ( south en- trance ). The times are 9 am. - 12 noon for children age eight and under and 1:30 - 4 p.m. for those nine and older. A Big Toe Contest will take place in Judith Gooderham Park on Tuesday, July 12 at 9 a.m. Children are invited to conte and decorate their big toe and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed toe. Also on Tuesday children are invited to see the har- bour from a sailor's point of view. For $1.75 a child can take a tug boat ride in the harbour. The tour will leave from the Gaol at 1 p.m. Two events will take place on Wednesday, July 13. The first event is a film festival at the Arena auditorium from 9 -11 a.m. The cost is 25 cents per child. The second event is a musical performance by Jim and Rosalie at Victoria School 2 p.m. The cost is $2. For more information about any of the events contact the Rec office at 524- 2125. (Photo by Joanne Buchanan) Bantams play their best game Intended for Last Week The Goderich Bantam Hardball team played their best game of the 83 season Friday night as they defeated a good Clinton team, 14-4. This brings the team's season record to two wins and five losses with five regular season games re- maining. Paul Nivens was the winn- ing pitcher going the entire distance and giving up only one walk, while the Goderich team collected 19 hits. Darcy McGee went five for five with four singles and a dou- ble, Chris Smith went four for five with three singles and a double, and Darryl Black went three for four with two triples and a single. Pete Nivens had two hits, Paul Nivens, Ray Bedard, Todd Wilson, Jim Beattie, and Mark Burbine each had one hit. The Bantam team spon- sored by Bluewa)ter Truck- ing will have their next home game Sunday, July 3 at 2 p.m_ at the hardball dia- mond.
