Race review BY YVETFE RICHARD The first day of racing at Goderich Raceway began Thursday, June 30 at 7:45 featuring Ontario. Sires Stakes three-year-old trot- ting fillies. Omaha Bett, owned by Carman Hie Stable Inc., Burlington, won the first division in 2:07:4. Moorelands Vera, owned by Sherman Moore of Lindsay, won the second division. Tudy Tuck, owned by Arland Farms, Oakville, won the third division in 2:06, break- ing the previous Goderich trot, rile record of 2:06:1. In the first race, Linlor Lee owned by Holmesville Valley Farms, Clinton .and 'driven by Brad Vanstone fell down. Luckily the driver was uninjured. Carl Fisher had two big driving wins Thursday even- ing with Carpet Slipper in • the first in 2:11 'and Handy. Slipper in the tenth with a mile of 2:10:3. Both horses are owned by Grant and Carl Fisher of Goderich. Owner Charlie Brindley also had two big wins with Miss Krista, Hal .in 2:10:1 in the -third, and -Rustic Helene.: in 2:06:2 In the eighth race._. Rustic Dream in the first finished fifth. All horses were driven by Gerry Roebuck. Miss Janes Rip, owned by „ Harry Kerr of Goderich, won the fourth race with Ross Battin as the driver. Broken M Stables. of Goderich received two seconds with Mary Jo Scot in the third and Mary T. Henry in the sixth. Both horses were driven by Ray Mathers. Mary and William McLean of Goderich received a third with Deep Run Skipper in the second and a fourth with Deep Run Super in the eighth. W.O. McLean was the driver. Owners Benson and Jean Feagan had two horses rac- Mg. Ames Scamp, driven by Randy Henry, finished se- cond in the tenth race and - Ames Shadow with Ross Bat - tin the driver finishing seventh in the third race. William Randy McLean- drove'G.G. CoIumbo, owned by Paul Dougherty, Leroy Meriam and Robert Daer of Goderich, in the tenth race finishing third. Randy also drove Lissa's Girl, owned by Robert _and.Ronald Daer of Goderich, in the eighth race finishing fifth. Noble Amy owned by Koop De Groot of Goderich and driven by John Muir finished third in the third race. Owner and driver William German finished third in the fourth race with Dallas Cowgirl and seventh with Knight Time Winner in the sixth race. Arrochar Ruth owned by Arnold Doak of Goderich • finished fourth in the second race driven by Randy Henry. Sunrise Bingo owned by Doug Kerr of Dungannon and driven by Randy McLean finished sixth in the second race. Frosty Hawthorne owned by Raymond Cook of Goderich and driven by Ran- dy Henry in the third race finished fifth. Rex Games owned by Rex Duckworth of Goderich finished fourth in the fourth race driven by John Duckworth.
