Sunset
Golf Club
The month of July is off to
a great start at the Sunset
Golf Club. The combination
of nice weather, great
organization, and en-
thusiastic golfers made the
July 1 mixed two -ball a
smashing success.
The winners of this event
were Paul and Shirley
Baechler, Lloyd Schoenhals
and Chris Reeve, Coley and
Evie McDonagh and Don,,
and Rosemary Armstrong.
There was a great turnout
for this event - 76 entries.
Many thanks to Ellen and
Stan Connelly and their com-
mittee of Sharon and Tom
Moore, Dorothy and Art
Bourdeau and Marilyn and
Frank Graham for the time
and effort they have put into
these events.
The next two -ball will be
July 15.
Last Monday, the
Bluewater Golf Club in
Bayfield entertained the
Sunset ladies. Even though it
rained continuously,
Dorothy Bourdeau, Marj
Smith and Joan Barrie were
winners.
The results of last week's
Men's Night were: low gross
- Paul Baechler; low net -
Stew Huyck; first flight -
Lloyd Schoenhals, Tom
Moore and Issy Bedard; se-
cond flight Lee Kirkwood,
Art Burt and Paul Co -
riveau; and third flight 1 -
Rick Turner, Don Elliott arid
Gary Chambers.
Ladies' Night was inter-
rupted briefly by rain on
Thursday night. The winners
were as follows: first flight -
Joyce Bolton; second flight -
Ellen Connelly; third flight -
Dorothy Bogie, Darlene
Crawford, Dorothy
Bourdeau and Ruth Bushell;
and fourth flight - Joan Bar-
rie. This coming Thursday is
casserole night, so ladies
• please bring a casserole.
The juniors met last
Wednesday. They played
nine holes of golf. Low gross
winner was David Almasi
and low net was Bill Trebish.
The juniors will meet again
this Wednesday at 1 p.m. for
driving range practice and
18 holes of golf with lessons
to follow.
Maitland
Country Club
Tuesday, June 28 was a
beautiful evening for Ladies'
Night at the Maitland. In the
first flight Gerry Mountford
won the first low gross. First
low net went to Doris
Pacquette and second low
net went to Marie Huff. Edna
Looker won first low gross in
second flight, Verna Kane
won the first low net and
Marilyn Govnish won second
low net. Joan McDougall
won the first low gross in the
third flight. Bertha McGee
won the first low net and
Rose Marie Evans won the
second low net. In the fourth
flight, Pat Tindal won first
low gross. Lois McGill won
first low net and Ila Stewart
won second low net. Eileen
Beauchemin won the prize
for the lowest number of
putts for the night.
Two men on the rules
committee, John Kane and
Fred Tooker spoke to the
ladies after the prizes were
given out. The rules of golf
are to help the golfer, not to
hinder them. It is a good idea
to have a small refresher
course now and then .. how to
break a tie, how to mark a
ball, what to do about ground
under repair, and lateral
water hazards. Also players
please replace your divots.
