Bank employee retires
D. MacLean Bell, brother-
in-law of Mrs: George (Betty)
Moncrief, formerly of Ripley,
has -'mow r..retfred front the
Bank of Nova Scotia, May
21st, after a service with
them of 42'4 years. He first
entered thebank in Ottawa
in 1940. He has worked in
Ontario, Quebec, Saskatche-
wan, Alberta, New Bruns-
wick and Prince Edward
Island, and has retired from
a bank in. Toronto.
He was in the R.C.A.F.
during World War 11. He. and
his wife, Jean are now resid-
ing in Goderich at 202 East
Street. A number of friends
and relatives held a retire-
ment party at the Legion Hall
in Lucknow Saturday evening
in his honour.
St. Mary's Separate School in Goderich held a school bus safety program for preschoolers
on June 7. The top picture shows that some children needed a little encouragement to take.
the first big step. But once they were aboard the children listened carefully to the safety
officer who told them how to behave while on a bus. Some of them, however, looked

is now a patient 'in the
Kincardine Hospital. We do
wish Mr. Wylds a speedy
recovery and hope he will
soon be able to be home

The community is sorry to
report that Jack Wilson of
R.R. 5 Goderich has been a
patient in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital.
However, Mr: Wilson has
returned. home now and is
convalescing favorably. His
many friends in Colborne
and . district wish him a
speedy recovery.

Twenty-six members were
present at the Kingsbridge
Catholic Women's League
June meeting..
Minutes of the last
meeting were- adopted and
the treasurer's report was
read -by -Bridget Van Osch.
It was reported that two
girls of the 1st Kingsbridge
Girl Guide Company were
presented with their "411 -
Round Cords" at the annual
Mother -Daughter banquet
May 25. Congratulations to
Lisa Gard and Colleen Van
Osth. , .
Cards of thanks were read
by correspondence con-
vener, Delores Van Osch.- '
Bernardine Kinney
reported on her visits to the
ill and housebound. She in-'
dicated that the seniors'
bingo nights are progressing
well. Also, a new clock and a
Tihrtrait of the Queen, were
donated to the church hall by
the seniors' group.
Rita Tigert reported'on the
many spiritual activities
carried out by or available to
league members.
It was indicated that gifts•
had been presented to the
recently married of -tare
parish.
Rita Howard reported that
the cancer fund drive is pro•
greasing well.
Recent Pri-Life-activities
were highlighted by Clarice
Dalton. She urged members
to use the `Respect for Life'
prayer daily.
Catherine Austin reported
that cards were sent. to 12
persons.
' Motions were made and
carried that a monthly Mass
be offered for increase in
vocations and that Stations
of the Cross be purchased for
St. Joseph's School.
The annual garage sale
will be held July 23.
Father Ed Dentinger dos-
ed the meeting with a prayer
and a short talk.
After this meeting,' a com-
bined meeting was 'held with
the ladies of the St. -
Augustine C.W.L. Guest
speaker was Mrs. Muriel
Murphy, a member of St.
Peter's council,. Goderich,
and Resolutions and Legisla-
tion Convener for the C.W.L.
Diocesan Convention held in
Windsor May 10 and 11.
Mrs. Murphy gave a very
interesting synopsis of the
convention. She emphasized
that League members have
a strong role to play in
"upholding respect for
Catholic Moral values:" She
indicated that the stniktibn of
the C.W.L. is concern -far the
physical and spiritual
welfare of all people.
Betty Lou Dallton thanked
the pest sw.alter. The
meeting closed with n plant
sale and social get-together.
