theatre and children's series
at the Blyth Centre for the
Arts.
Dozens of volunteers M all
area communities will, be
working in the next few
weeks •to renew _present
subscriptions ACM new
ones under a reduced
subscription price offer that
lasts until June 15.
The music series of four
events, featuring Koffman
and his jazz quintet costs on-
ly $20 until June 15, a saving
of $14 over regular tickets
prices. It will begin Sunday,
Oct. 16 with composer -
performer Gene DiNovi tak-
ing a journey through 20th
century music with the com-
positions of such greats as
Jerome Kern, Duke Ell-
ington and Stephen Son-
dheim.
Aeolus Brass, one of the
fastest rising young brass
groups of Canada performs
Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m.
Koffman and his quintet will
appear Sunday, April 29 at 2
p.rn. Kraft and 'Company,
featuring one of Canada's
top classical guitarists
Norbert Kraft, his beautiful
wife Bonnie Silver on piano
and tenor Glyn Evans will
complete the series on May
13 at 2 p.m.
The funny and colourful
operetta The Merry Widow
will begin the theatre series
Thursday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.

The children's series of-
fers an incredible bargain
for subseribers. Not only will
subscribers get three shows
for $7, three shows for the
priceof)two, but they, will get
a special bonus performance
that ,.will be open only to

be a contiert on Dec. 10
featuring April and Susan
from the Mr. Dressup televi-
sion show.
The series will begin Oct.
22 with a concert by Chris
and Ken Whitely with their
foot -stomping jug band style
music. The brothers have
backed up Raffi, Sharon,
Lois and Bram over the
years and now are winning
fans with their own record
albums.
Theatre Beyond Words
famous Potato People will
entertain kids from four to 84
on Saturday, April 14 at 2
p.m. The final event of the
children's series will be a
presentation of the classic
tale The Nightingale_ by Rag
and Bone Puppet Theatre on
Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m.
After June 15, prices for
both theatre and ' music
series will. increase by $2.

Concert Contrasts
The Blyth Festival Singers
will present 'Contrasts In
Concert' on Sunday, June 12
at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Blyth
Memorial Hall.
The choice of• repertoire
for this concert is designed
to show the many contrasts
in style and .mood available
in choral music. The. au-
dience will identify with the
well-known songs from
Oliver and the theme frorfi
the 'Broadway and movie hit
Annie. In contraht, the choir
will perform a number of
spirituals as well as folk
songs drawn from Russia,
Czechoslovakia, North
Carolina and Nova Scotia.
For fun, the choir will pre-
sent a take -off on musical
forms entitled Go For.Baro-
que. The Festival Singers
are also including in this con-
cert some of the audience
favorites from former con-
certs.
