challenging play for their
malar production Thor=.

• There :are •very few. props
and. much of •the actings
volves mime. Lir Bundy, a.
Member' of G.D.C.I.'.s Mime
Troupe, is the student direc-
tor in charge of mime. She
has been working with the
cast for weeks in order to
make the imaginary props
look amazingly real.
Our 'Town leas a cast or
approximately 40 people, but
involves many more in the
technical area of the
production. Jennifer
Gowanloely is the assistant
director and Teresa Don-
nelly is the stage manager.
Many others are involved
in costuming, lighting, and
prop collection.
VI- the major •
characters in eur• Town are
the Stage Manlager, Emily
Webb and George Gibbs.
They are played respectively
by Jim Keller, Jodi Kuran
and Stephen Longwell.
The cast, when asked
about the play, sound very
confident. They are haviig a
great time'preparing for Dur
Town despite the tong hours
of practice •which. sometimes
takes place four times a
week.
The dates f6r the
production are Thursday,
May 12, Friday, May 13 and
Saturday,. May 14. The pl?p
.will be presented in the West
Gymnasium at the high
school at 8:00 p.m. •
Ticekts are $3 for adults, $2
for students. and $1 for
children. They are available
from any • member of the
Drama Club at the high
school, ,or at the door on the
night of each performance.
Locai women fill
Festival positions
Two local women have
been appointed to senior ad-
ministrative positions at the
Blyth Summer Festival.
Jennifer Hill of .Auburn,a
native of Goderich, began
. work in April as the new box
office manager for the
Festival, succeeding Anne
Mann of i.ucknow. Jennifer
has .bad past experience in
accounting and bookkeep-
ing.•She will be in charge of a
staff of four, handling sales
of more than 30,000 tickets.
Gail Roberts of the
Whitechurch area has been
appointed as publicity direc-
tor for the Festival. A native
of Oxford county, Gail has
had a wide background both
in the media and in the arts.
She has also travelled exten-
sively, Working on a
magazine in .Beirut,
Lebanon, teaching English
to pilots • of the Iranian air'
force in Tehran and living
for several' years in British
Columbia. She has also
worked in such diverse'oc-
c•upations as quiltmaking,
and as a clown. She will com-
mence her duties May,16. •

class toured the Science Circus at The Livery this week. While Thyssen explored the effects
of static electricity her classmates indulged in the many exhibits, demonstrations and

receive pay increases of five
per cent this year.
Completion of the 1983
agreement between the
Board of Police
Association's non -civilian
members was announced at
a board meeting three weeks
ago.
Salaries for police officers,
with last year's figures in
brackets are: sergeant,
$29,360 (.$27,962); first class
constable, $27,615 ($26,300)
and second class constable,
$24,305 ($23,148).
