Cali tenders
Council will authorize the town
engineer to call tenders for the Hamilton
Street sidewalk project. Any deficit in-
curred by the project will be held over to
1984 by the town on behalf of the Business
Improvement Area board.
New equipment
The parks and waterfront committee of
council has agreed to purchase
playground equipment in the amount of
$4,124 from Paris Playground Equip -
• has' been put on hold after committee
raccabers expressed concerns over the
maintenance and operation of the slide.
While the water slide has been put on
hold, thecommittee has approved ar-
chitectural drawings for a beach house to
,be located at St. Christorther's Beach
MX' the water filtration plant. B.M. Ross
and Associates .of Goderich will prepare
the arcbiteetural drawings of the beach
• house. The project is part of the ONIP
soft service component.
New wages
Town employee Peter Spain has been
reclassified from parks foreman to parks
supervisor. The parks supervisor will be
paid $21,654 annually, the same grid level
rate as the airport co-ordinator. Council
also agreed that cemetery workers, now
amalgamated with the parks depart-
ment, be paid an hourly rate of $7.80
while the sub -foreman is paid an hourly
rate of $8.08.

The ministry is proposing
larger regional systems that
it claims will be more cost
efficient. Partridge said
there is little support for that
theory.

The annual meeting of the
Hospital Auxiliary was held
on Monday, April 18. The
retiring president, Mrs.
Claude Kalbfleisch thanked
the executive and members
for their co-operation and ex-
pressed her pleasure in serv-
ing as president.
The meetings were well at-
tended throughout the year.
Several special speakers
discussed a varied selection
of topics: Mrs. Osborne on
Palliative. Care; Dan Dun-
can, • the Executive
Househelper; Mrs. Dean
Dixon from Town and Coun-
ac
try Homemakers; Mrs.
Harvey, Head Nurse • of.
Chronic Care Unit; Dr.
liplike showed pictures of his
recent trip to Malay; a
video tape from Sunnybrook
Hospital showed treatment
of patients with cardiac ar-
rest.
The members toured the
I.C. Unit, the new Recovery
Room and Day Care Surgery
area and also the addition to
Physiotherapy rooms. Ultra
sound equipment was also
seen.
An appreciation tea was
held to thank the Shop
Volunteer44
The, treasurer reported
that the balance of the cost of
the Heart Station in the
amount of $3,788 has been
paid.
Money was raised by
various means during the
year - for example: Tag
Day; Penny Fair Day to be
held May 13; Gift Shop
sales; bake and craft sale;
etc.
A hair dressing room man-
ned • by volunteer hair-
dressers and auxiliary
members, is offered as a ser-
vice to patients.
