Beta Sigma Phi Daffodil Chairman, Pat Spence presented a $3,815.93 cheque last week to Jim Remington, Huron County campaign chairman for the Canadian Cancer Society. The money was raised by three chapters of the sorority during the annual sale of daffodils. This year the ladies raised $800 more than last year. (photo by T.Marr) Calf Club organizes The organizationa meeting of the Dungannon 4- H Calf Club was held April 20 at Dungannon Agriculture Hall. For this 4-11 term there are four leaders, Gwen and Bob McNeil, Ian Hackett and Ross Eedy. Sixteen mem- bers are enrolled. The meeting opened with the 4-H Pledge. The leaders discussed 4-11in general as well as project requirements. Books and lesson materials were handed out. Ian Hackett and Ross Eedy then, discussed the record books. An election of officers took place with results as follows: president -Perry Van Osch, vice -president -Christine Stapleton, secretary -Jeff Feagan, treasurer -Craig McNeil and press reporters-' Scott Hackett and Judy Walter. This was followed by a question and answer period. The meeting was then ad- journed. The next meeting will be held May 17. Word has Peen received of the passing of Mrs. Clayton Walters (nee Lauretta Sch- wanz) at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver last Thursday. Lauretta was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schwan, formerly of Colborne Township: Sincere sympathy is extended to relatives and friends. This Thursday at 12:30 noon ' Tiger Dunlop W.I. annual meeting will be held "in Colborne Township Hall. Plan to attend. This Thursday, April 28 a Social News Hall.at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miss Jean Chisholm of Toronto has returned home after visiting her sister, Mrs. Theresa Fulford for the past two weeks. Guests with Mr. and Mrs. Terence Hunter on the weekend were their two nieces, Mrs. Jean Barclay of London and Grace Hunter of Goderich. Hoche, 'Wired ,hank manager of Bass Lake, died in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital ut Orilli onTuesday, April 19. He was born in Winnipe Manitou: and moved K.enora (then. Nottawa) as child with, his parents, A Bayes Mack and Archibald Macfie (now both deceased). In 1924 the family moved to Goderich where he attended the Goderich Collegiate Institute. In 1928 he joined the staff of the •Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Dundalk. He was with the Bank in Dungannon, Brantford, Ayr, Cayuga, Caledonia, West Hill and, • Hagersville where because of ill health he was forced to retire. In 1965 he • moved to Caledonia and lived there until 1977 when he was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Sutherland Macfie of Cayuga. The late Mr. Macfie was 'a member of the Menesetung Canoe Club and the Masonic Lodge in Hagersville. He is survived by his wife, Helen Lillian Straiton, formerly of ,Goderich, now residing in Bass Lake and his only sister, Marjorie Macfie of Goderich. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich. The Reverend G.L. Mr. Fowler was amember of the Great Lakes Athletic Association. He is survived by his wife, Burnis; three daughters, Mrs. Gerry (Fay) Boullard of Acton, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Krys off Thunder Bay and Mrs. Ian (Sharon) McLeod of Graham, Ontario; three brothers, Roy, Stan and Elgin of Goderich; a sister, Mrs. Rod (Verna) Peyton of Oshawa; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fowler was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fowler of Goderich and a brother, Newton of Bowmanville. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 19 at the Jenkens Funeral Home in Thunder Bay with Rev. T.E. Molyneaux of the Westfort Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Moun- tain View Cemetery, Thunder Bay. MARSHALL FOWLER Mr. Marshall Fowler of 296 East Christina Street, Thunder Bay died on Friday, April 15 in Thunder Bay following a lengthy illness. He was 60. . • Born in Auburn he moved to Thunder Baty . in 1940 and was married to the former Burnis Beghtel. Mr. Fowler sailed 'for seven years with the Paterson Steamships. In 1946 PERCY RILEY Percy Riley of 57 Picton Street, East, Goderich died at his residence on Monday, April 25 at the age of 69. He was born in Hullett Township to Benjamin and Selena (Glazier) Riley;. He attended school in Hullett Township. On September 30, 1936 he married Elizabeth Catherine Webster; They, resided in' Hullett Township until moving to Goderich Township in 1950 and then to Goderich in 1957. The late Mr. Riley farmed until retiring to Goderich. He was a member of Victoria Street United Church, Goderich. He is survived by his wife; three children, Kenneth of London, Ronald of Grand Bend and Laverne of Kin- cardine; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Dale and Mrs. Elmer (Ettie) Hugill both off Clinton and Mrs. Verne (Isobel) Porter of London; two brothers, Ben of Goderich and Robert of Muskoka; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Archie, John and Alex Riley. A funeral service was held at Stiles Funeral Horne in Goderich on Wednesday, April 27 at 2 p.m. The Reverend John D. M. Wood officiated. Intermentwas in the Maitland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gordon Harrison, Donald Lamont, Arnold Riley, Ralph Cald- well, Mansel Cook and David Murray. MRS. A funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home in Goderich on Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert O. Ball officiated. Pallbearers were Ray Pinder, Graham McNee, Allan McNee, Dennis Alton, Arthur Curry and Percy Blundell. Rebekah Lodge no. 89 held a memorial service at the funeral home Wednesday evening, April 20.
